Attorney Christopher R. Minelli's practice focuses on helping individuals, small-, and medium-sized businesses with their operational legal needs. Chris started working for himself early and developing expertise in entrepreneurial pursuits while still in high school, such as promoting local rock shows in his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio. Later, he worked for his family's small contracting business during college. With these experiences, Chris developed an appreciation for the needs and aspirations of small business owners.
In law school, Chris was elected to serve as executive editor of the University of Illinois College of Law's Illinois Business Law Journal. The Journal is an entirely internet-based forum for writings on current business topics. It allowed students like Chris to post articles for practitioners, judges, and the public instantaneously. Chris was honored with the "featured article" award in the Fall of 2006 for his article on future U.S.-Cuban trade relations.
Chris' academic focuses honed his skills in transactional subjects and he excelled in his real estate and financing courses. Chris has also written a great deal on a variety of subjects ranging from commercial law, real estate, taxation, admiralty law, and international law.
Chris' working experiences at The Singleton Law Firm, P.C. have allowed him to develop expertise in a variety of transactional matters effecting individuals and small business owners. Chris worked a great deal on drafting sales and licensing agreements for small start-up companies and more established businesses. Chris' biggest projects included drafting an international sales agreement for heavy equipment exports to South Korea, which involved a complex series of arrangements from drafting documents that comply with private international law to complying with the U.S. Department of Commerce's trade regulations. Chris also worked on "soft" intellectual property projects for clients including trademarks and copyright, taxation issues for subchapter-S "closely-held" corporations, and forming Illinois not-for-profit corporations.
Chris has also spent time in pro bono and community service pursuits. At Miami University Chris participated in Habitat for Humanity and during law school at the University of Illinois Chris worked with Street Law, an organization dedicated to informing the public of their legal rights. For example, Chris participated in a program in which law students visited first-time juvenile offenders in the Champaign County Corrections Department to teach them about constitutional law.
