Divorce Attorney - Highly Recommend
I was introduced to Mr. McHugh through Robert Klein's practice in the Elgin area. From the start I realized Mr. McHugh was highly competent both in strategy and working with complex problems. He knows the law and he he is great with numbers. His arguments are compelling and backed by very solid facts. Some attorneys tend to inflate the circumstances or 'blow smoke'. He has an effective way of cutting through the confusion. This is the kind of attorney you want on your side. My situation was very complicated due to the nature of my employment and level of income (which was at risk of being ransacked by a bitter ex-spouse). Kevin let me know where the statues and law stood on these matters and helped lead the process through to the final stages keeping the other side in check. I have a strategy background myself, and Kevin and we always saw eye-to-eye on our decision-making process. I am going to be hiring as trusted advisor for other matters in the future.

Second DUI - Best Choice
I was facing my second DUI charge in less than ten years and I was scared of what would happen. Mr. McHugh was very kind and respectful of me. He explained what was going to happen and how he was going to approach my specific case. He told me it was a tough situation but that we would get through it together. I have never had an attorney be so caring and professional and good before. I was happy with the end result of the case but was even happier that Mr. McHugh was the one to guide me through it every step of the way!

"Thank you Kevin" does not say enough. I was 18 facing federal charges and my previous attorneys had not been able to make the U.S. Attorneys' Office budge on the sentencing recommendation. Kevin took the time to know me and my situation, and then advocate to both the prosecutors and to the Judge. After a long process, Kevin was even able to convince the probation department that an irregular sentence was appropriate in my case. Instead of 2 1/2 to 3 years on each of the 18 counts, the Judge sentenced me to 12 weekends at the Metropolitan Correctional Center. However, that was not the end of Kevin's help. When most attorneys would walk away because the case was "done" Kevin remained by my side. The MCC did not want to house me due to my medical condition, and the prosecutor was again asking for long-term confinement. Kevin skillfully negotiated and convinced the Judge to allow home confinement. Thank you again and again Kevin!

Excellent Criminal Defense Attorney
I was charged with several felonies in Lake County, IL. After reviewing my case and the prosecutor's facts, Kevin was able to poke enough holes in their 'evidence' that the prosecutor was forced to dismiss all charges. I was very grateful that Kevin was representing me and would recommend my family and friends to him.

Don’t waste your money or time in Illinois or Florida!
Paid him to help start probate in FL the end of June 2021. He didn’t submit any paperwork until October 2021! Unreal! He doesn’t answer or returns calls but will sure take your money! Would never recommend. Will be letting friends and family know in FL to stay away if they need representation!

0 stars!! Worst “lawyer” EVER!!!!
If you want to shell out money for no reason then here’s your guy! He does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!! We gave him so much ammo to use in court to help our case and NOTHING!!! He did not open his mouth at all!!!!! He seems like he knows what to do but will NOT help you!!!! Every single person we spoke with said get a new lawyer!!! Wish we did it right away!!!! Shame on him for charging us over 3k for NOTHING!!! Eventually HE withdrew from being our lawyer !!!!! What a SHAM!!!!!! Please do not get him as your lawyer!!!! RUNNNNNNN!!!!

Worst lawyer by far
Paid Mr.mchugh almost 3,ooo for doing absolutely nothing for me in court then after giving him more money he decides to withdraw himself from my case. I wouldn't recommend this lawyer to my worst enemy.

He and his firm never call back, don't hire
Hired him through a friends family referral (wrong!). Accepted my car accident case a year ago. I have called so many times, I have lost count. Very disappointed, this car accident has wreaked my life and this man said he would help. Why accept new clients if you don't want the case ? That's what I don't understand. Now, the limits of my case are soon to be gone and I will not be compensated for lost wages and continued health problems. I know this case if won would not bring him big bucks, but again, when you look into a persons eyes and tell them you will help, you do just that. I don't know how he lives with himself.

Unprepared
Represented us in a contract dispute. Did not return phone calls for extended periods of time. Disappeared without a trace for months. Has talent and seems knowledgeable, but when time to be a lawyer he came across as unprepared for the case. Lost sight of the important factors of the case and let the opposing side run the show. For $400 per hour, we certainly expected better representation and were left feeling that we were the at fault party. All of this cost us dearly as we ended up paying for the other parties attorney cost. We are saddened but, we would have done better on our own without this attorney.

He was hired to represent my share of my Dad's estate. He was paid over $5k but did not do what he was supposed to except run me out of time with statute of limitations. My Dad's family talked him into reverse mortgage, then fraudulently spent the money. They also stole EVERYTHING from his house. I had to sign house over to reverse mortgage company which left me with nothing!

Doesn't return call or finish job
He was hired through another attorney he was paid in full he did not carry out my case the way he should of one case was dropped and the other case was a property dispute another attorney is saying he is in possession of all of the proper paperwork it's been over three years now and I have not received any documentation's that I won my case! I am now married trying to get rid of property that belongs to my ex and I that I one and have no idea if I have legal rights to sell any of the stuff without getting in trouble and getting the spin around by both attorneys!!
