I am a medical doctor who suffered a severe injustice for which I had no recourse (i.e. no physical proof beyond he said/she said). Years later, I was accused of a low-level non-violent crime that I (may have) committed in retaliation; but my actions were justified in my ethical code, given the egre...giousness of the trespass against me and my family. However, I knew the law wouldn't see it that way. When the Hennepin County police contacted HR at my new employer in Seattle, I already knew two things: 1. Don't EVER talk to the police and 2. Get legal help ASAP (like that very hour).
I paid an hourly rate to a nice but not aggressive MN lawyer to talk with the cops, who was able to tell me the evidence the detectives had, but dropped me right there. He left me to suffer the daily tension headaches and sweaty apprehension of not knowing whether or not I was going to get charges. Gross misdemeanor charges mean I am immediately fired from a high end job, according to the contract with my employer. After two weeks of not knowing if I would be charged, I was going crazy, drinking and shutting down mentally, considering purchasing a firearm. No way was I going to last the full year that police and district attorney generally spend deciding if they have enough to file charges.
At that point, I called Ryan Garry. I had done my internet research and reviewed his numerous helpful YouTube law tutorials. He heard my case with compassion. He will interview you from all angles, of course determining the facts of the case, discussing hostile and friendly witnesses, discussing the evidence; but he also dives into the secondary problems our "speedy" trial system can create. He asks about home life and mental health, and it is the holistic approach I think that sets him apart from other lawyers. Regardless of the guilt or not, a defendant needs to be as mentally healthy as other "not guilty" defendants, should they ever need to appear in court. He put me at ease, telling me right away that my crime would not be punishable by any jail time. He is quickly responsive, even on his court days. Due to my draconian contract, he knew that preventing charges was top priority.
Thankfully, he knew the particular law enforcement officers involved in my case, and he made contact. By pointing out weaknesses in their evidence, he was able to persuade the police to close my file and not send my case to the D.A. in the first place! Ryan Garry JD is worth every penny! Maybe the law lost last week, but common sense justice won, and I believe Ryan understands the difference.
If you don't believe me, YouTube Ryan Garry and watch 20 or so short (<2 min) vids. Thank you Ryan! I have stopped daily drinking alcohol as you know, and your great outcome has given me a renewed sense of purpose for my work!
