I have hired Attorney Hammel several times over the past 7-8 years to handle personal and business debt. I have also referred her services to friends and family. In addition she has been a good go-to-person for other legal questions and referrals outside her specialty. She is very busy and may take some time to respond to my email or phone call, but when she does her responses are very informative and thorough. Her knowledge is priceless and worth the wait. No matter how ignorant my questions sometimes sound, she has always been professional in her responses. She doesn't sugar coat the situation and always tells the truth even when it may be hard to hear. I trust her and highly recommend her to anyone looking for professional legal advice.

Patricia seems to be overwhelmed with her case load. Rarely returns phone calls or emails. Rather rude and argumentive; enjoys interupting with the wrong answer before you've finished the question. Patricia filed papers which were completely contrary to what we had discussed with her, we've got the emails to back it up. Is she incompetent? You'd probably be best off not finding out for yourself. My recommendation is that you steer clear.

Patricia K. Hammel’s response: “It is true I have filed over 120 bankruptcy cases this year, thousands over 30 years, and have one negative review. I know my clients well enough to recognize this individual, and regret that he is no longer able to earn as much as he did selling subprime mortgages. I'm sorry I didn't endorse his book, which I haven't read. I don't have a solution to every problem. His claim that I filed papers "contrary to what we discussed" is untrue. The documents he signed are a public record.”
