Go With the Best!

I chose that title for my review of Dennis because that was what the ultimate decision of choosing my lawyer (or whether or not to hire one at all) came down to. It took me four very long days, concentrating on nothing else, to finally call Dennis back and ask him to represent me. My insurance rates... on multiple vehicles would triple, the fines and court costs I knew about, the unknown costs that may be ahead, the prospect of the OWI on my record - it all left my head spinning. Finally, I just let it all go, and told myself that if I didn't hire the best, I may very well have to live my life wondering, "What If?" Sixteen months later, the only thing I was wondering was if I would ever get to meet the man! Everything was handled by phone, text, or email. He is calm, intelligent, and reassuring, and responds quickly to a call or text. He goes to court for you, and then tells you what happened and what will happen next. In my case, it was going to come down to a jury trial. I met with Dennis two weeks before the scheduled trial and he went over the research he had gathered for the case. He also told me that the DA may budge before the trial, and that he would settle for nothing other than a non-alcohol related offense. If there was no settlement, we were to meet again a couple days before the trial. I left his office with such confidence in him, that I never bothered to ask for a day off of work! And rightfully so - I soon got a phone call from him stating that we had gotten the non-alcohol related charges that he had sought! Hiring Dennis gives you a peace of mind that you would never dream possible in such a serious situation. I will be forever grateful and recommend him wholeheartedly! He is AMAZING!

Trial Experience and Expertise that is Second to None

When you are facing a DUI charge, nothing short of your reputation is at stake. If you are found guilty, you'll lose your license, have to go to alcohol counseling and pay a large fine, but those are fleeting. The damage to your reputation will be forever. So, you want the best attorney you can ...get. I promise you, that attorney is Dennis Melowski. From our first conversation, I felt comfortable working with Dennis. He walked me through the steps he would take on my behalf to eliminate all alcohol-related offenses, including the possibility that the case could go to trial. My case took a little over two years to resolve, with Dennis and his team handling every step, every detail. It was hard not to get discouraged as the process played out, but Dennis never wavered in his belief in me or our chance for a successful outcome. Ultimately, my case went to trial. And Dennis was brilliant. His research and preparation built a case that refuted the prosecution’s position. He expertly used the facts to counter each of their assertions. After less than an hour of deliberation, the jury found me Not Guilty. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of Dennis’s court room expertise. Anyone considering hiring a lawyer to defend them in a DUI case needs to make sure they hire someone who has a track record of success at trial. In my opinion, there is no one better than Dennis Melowski. He gave me back my reputation. My family and I cannot thank him enough.

Scared? Unsure? Ashamed? While facing a first offense charge of OWI/DUI....I was feeling all of those...untill

I can’t begin to explain the fear, anger, shame, confusion and hopelessness that overtook me after being stopped by the police. I found myself being charged with OWI in a non-driving situation and found they are very much treated the same (as if I had been actually driving down the road). The morni...ng after the incident I immediately started the search process for solid legal representation knowing that it would provide me with the best chances going forward. The first Law Firm I visited was a local family practice focused office, however I was told they accepted OWI defense cases all the time. After discussing the specifics of the case I came away dejected and truly scared. The basic conversation was that these cases were rarely resolved in this County and there was “ not much I could do! “ These are not the words you want to hear. After returning to my home state I continued researching attorneys and came across the website for Melowski Law. After reading some of the reviews I decided to contact them for a second opinion. Within the first few minutes of speaking with Dennis Melowski I knew I had found someone very knowledgeable and who was on my side and willing to fight along with me. The real revelation came when I contacted the previous attorney to inform him that I would be switching my case to Dennis’s office and his words to me were ‘That’s a good idea…he will do a better job than I could have”. Dennis and his staff went to work right away by petitioning for me to keep my license during the case progression. It was when I received a copy of the DMV administrative hearing transcript that I knew I had the best attorney on my side. Even though Dennis and I had only spoken briefly about the case, Dennis had gone over all the court documents and arrest reports and was already setting the stage, expertly and aggressively questioning the hearing officer and arresting officer because in his words “he was trying to ensure justice for his client“. It was a long 2-year process filled with delays and motion hearings however Dennis always kept me up to date and was always available to chat on those days when I started to panic. As the delays mounted and status conferences dragged on, Dennis was quick to remind me that whatever the outcome of these…we were nowhere close to giving up and he would continue to fight for me. In the end the resolution couldn’t have been any better, not one day spent in court, no loss of license and I avoid the stigma of having a DWI on my record, which would have essentially ended my career.

Outstanding! I couldn't ask for a better lawyer!

I was referred to Dennis by a friend after I was charged with my second OWI in November of 2012. Dennis was very straight forward with me from the beginning. I was pulled over because my license plates were expired by 6 days and from there it escalated to a field sobriety test to a breathalyzer whe...re I blew a .10. Dennis explained in great detail what the case would entail and he kept me informed throughout the 18 months that it played out. In the end it came down to a jury trial and after 15 minutes of deliberation the jury found me not guilty! I was nervous through the whole ordeal, but Dennis did an outstanding job, he fought for my case, and I will be forever indebted to him, and I will talk his praises for years to come! Thank you again Dennis!

Clearly, the best move I made

When I was ticketed for OWI just over a year ago, I was convinced the situation I was facing was hopeless. Though I tested at barely over the legal limit, everything I had read online and everyone I was talking to only made me more dour and certain that my license would be suspended in a few short w...eeks and my life would be totally turned upside down. For starters, my employment/career depends on maintaining a safe/clean driving record, and even though I was a first time offender, that would not exclude me from an immediate suspension of driving privileges--and the drunk driving conviction would remain part of my permanent record for life. I talked to many attorneys in following days with mixed results. Some flat out stated that a long and costly fight would not get me the results I wanted and needed, especially with a test over the .08 limit that the authorities had. I finally spoke to Dennis who was clear and confident, especially upon learning some vital facts of my case, and he had an astounding record of success to back him up. He didn't sugarcoat my case, but did make it clear to me that we had much at our disposal in what would probably be a long, drawn out fight. Over the next calender year it took for my case to finally come to trial, I was amazed at the resources and knowledge Dennis and his staff brought to an OWI/DWI defense. It is solely what his firm practices and that commitment shows in their skill and knowledge of how to fight and defend these cases. After a long year of conferences, pre-trial conferences and ultimate trial with a recalcitrant DA and municipal judge, Dennis was able to get my initial OWI charge reduced to a non-alcohol related violation and save, not just my present job but my driving record and all the upheaval that a DUI conviction would have brought upon my life. If you are facing an OWI/DUI citation, I cannot recommend him enough.
