Matt did an awesome job on my case and helped me keep my license throughout the entire process! I would highly recommend him to anyone.

After being pulled over on a gravel road for what the cop referred to as "suspicious activity" (basically driving too slow), I receive a 1st offense OWI charge. Having heard of what a great layer Matt is, I hired him immediately. Matt was able to get the OWI charge reduced to a Reckless Driving ticket and kept my drivers license valid. Throughout the entire process, Matt was very honest and professional, and easy to communicate with. I would recommend him to anyone at anytime. His services are greatly appreciated and its nice to know we have someone like him defending us and our rights.

After receiving an OWI 1st & a Felony Bribery charge in April of 2015 I knew it was going to take the help of a Shark to get me back on the right side of the law. I consulted a friend of mine that's the police cheif of the small town that I'm from. He highly recommended Matt Lindholm as he knew he was highly respected & feared (in a good way) by the local county attorneys that had had dealings with him. To say my friend was right would be an extreme understatement. Matt was (is) an absolute professional in every degree of the term. Long story short, after watching Matt grill my arresting officer for just over 2 hours straight during depositions; picking apart every lie the officer could fabricate; exposing every hole possible; the County Attorney thought it'd be a good idea to offer a Reckless Driving & an Interference with Official Acts Plea Deal. I never lost my lisence, nor spent a second in jail. Only had to pay a couple fines & moved on with my life. I am forever greatful for Matt & everyone over at GRL Law for helping me through the mess of the legal process.

I was recommended to Matt from numerous people. I have never needed or used an attorney before. Matt and his firm were very clear and up front about everything. Matt kept me informed at all times, and promptly answered any questions I had. I don't know what else to say but I'd highly recommend Matt to anyone!

I was arrested for OWI in April of 2016. I am a 49 yr old female with a great job that requires me to drive for work needless to say I feared losing my career . Matt was referred to me from a friend that heard how good he was . That he is , my OWI was dismissed to a lesser charge , I got to keep my job & my dignity. I can not express enough how great of an attorney Matthew is & his team, I fully recommend him .

I was pulled over driving a friends car with the right headlight out. Unfortunately, we had been drinking and I was arrested for OWI. What a nightmare.
To be honest I was basically in shock about the whole thing for some time. I really did not know what to do. I asked around and one lawyer stood out as the lawyer to get to represent you when you have this OWI and that lawyer was Matt Lindholm.
I live in a small town and without good representation I am sure I would not have gotten much help with a local attorney. Matt got me 90 days of driving and then had the OWI reduced to a lesser charge. I am sure this would not have happened without Matt and his experienced impact on the local county attorney.
I would urge anyone to go to Matt if they find themselves in an OWI situation.

Matt was top notch!!!! Being originally from Chicago, IL and unfamiliar with the specifics of OWI laws in this state I made some very critical mistakes in how I handled my interaction with the officers who pulled me over that night by refusing the Breathalyzer both at the arresting site and at the station which makes things worse here as I found out later. After meeting with Matt one time I knew he was the guy in telling me if there was an angle to exploit the charge and actions of the arresting officers he would. He did just that as he was able to find an angle to question one of the officers statements during the arrest which resulted in his filing for a motion to suppress the Breathalyzer refusal. At that point the county prosecutor knowing Matt had a pretty solid argument to have the evidence suppressed and struck a deal with Matt. As opposed to an automatic 12 month suspension, 3 months for a work driving permit and an owi on my record the charges got brought down to a deferred sentence of only a 3 month license suspension, 1 year of probation, cannot get another one for 12 years(and one was enough for me lol), no owi as long as I complete my probation and no other owi charges obviously and some fines. Matt was well worth the money I paid for his services, he and one of his legal assistants kept me promptly informed during all phases of the proceedings including when I did and didn't have to be in court and how things were going to play out. Matt knows his stuff and gives it to you straight. If there is something to your situation he can find to relieve the burden of your case this guy will find it HANDS DOWN!! If you need a superb attorney that is professional, honest and hard working to your benefit you'd be a fool not to seek out Matt. He is absolutely the lawyer you want!!!!!!!!!!

I hired Matt to represent me for an OWI 1st and a child endangerment charge. Matt will not sugarcoat anything, but he knows the law and he will pursue every option available. He got back to me promptly and efficiently, and he answered all questions I had about my case. He is very upfront, no nonsense, and honest. He knows the law, it is quite clear that he does his research on your case and possible past cases that may pertain, and he is very passionate about what he does. I was not 'promised' anything, as there are no such things when it comes to criminal law. I most definitely would recommend Matt to anyone who is seeking a very bright, thorough, and passionate attorney.

I was pulled over for speeding through a construction site and was given a speeding ticket along with an OWI. I had never been in trouble before so I was a mess about the entire situation. I ended up going to the station and blowing a .112. Because that is over the legal limit, I spent the night in jail and appeared at court in the morning. I had never worked with a lawyer for any reason prior to this event but there was no hesitation to go directly to Matt--I had already been referred to him by another acquaintance who knew of his hard working and professional demeanor. I took their advice and met with Matt a couple weeks after receiving my OWI. He was very professional but also made you feel like even if it didn't seem like it, there could be a light at the end of the tunnel. He told me step by step what I needed to do at that moment and made sure I understood all of the paperwork. He asked me for my side of the story and was very inquisitive about what had happened. When all was said and done, I knew he was the right person to trust with my case.
Driving and getting to work was very important to me so Matt immediately requested a DOT hearing to keep my license active. I did not have to take any time away from work to a part of this but instead Matt represented on my behalf at the DOT hearing. Not to long after, I was given notice they accepted the request and I could continue driving until further notice. Being able to have my license throughout everything getting figured out was tremendously meaningful to me and my professional life.
Matt and I did not meet again face to face until our first hearing but I e-mailed him a handful of times throughout the process and he would respond almost immediately with knowledgeable and helpful answers. It made me feel very valued as a client to know he would be there whenever I needed to ask him something. Even when some questions can seem silly to you as a client because it is all so new, he never made me feel like my questions were not important.
As things progressed, Matt ended up seeing via video that the officer denied my right to place a phone call. Because of this Matt told me we were going to request a Motion to Suppress my breath test results. Matt was able to get that accepted at our initial hearing and my OWI charge was dropped down to a reckless driving ticket. I will not have an OWI on my record, will not be required to complete probation, and will not lose my license for any period of time. I was asked to pay the reckless driving ticket and attend the 48 hr OWI weekend camp. After the hearing Matt sat down with me and told me the last few things that I needed to do after receiving these results. He helped me find phone numbers and explained to me the deadlines that I had for paying my ticket and completing the OWI weekend camp. Even after our case together was essentially completed, he still took the time to make sure I knew the last bit of information that I was needing to finalize things on my end.
The amount of gratitude I feel for this outcome and for all of the hard work that Matt put into my case can not be expressed in words. If anyone is ever in a similar situation or searching for a trustworthy and helpful lawyer, I 100% recommend Matt Lindholm!

I am an Illinois driver who was arrested in Ames, Iowa on July 5, 2014 for an owi. I was pulled over for speeding, but I knew that once the officer came to the window that I was going to be in trouble. I can honestly say I have never been so scared in my 39 years of life! Because I refused to take the breathalyzer I was arrested and spent the night in jail. I have never been in trouble and didn't know what to do. On Monday morning I made some phone calls to local attorneys in my home town, only to be told that I would need to hire an attorney closer to Ames, Iowa. After one conversation with Matt, I knew he was the attorney for me! I was so mad at myself for getting myself in this situation, and didn't really know what was going to happen, but Matt made me feel comfortable and explained everything that was going to happen even before I hired him! He kept me informed of everything that was going on with my case. Three months after my arrest we went to trial. It really seemed crazy to go to trial for this, but it seemed like nothing was working for me. I was a nervous wreck weeks leading up to my trial date. If I was found guilty I would've had to do 2 days in jail and I would have a criminal record! I really felt like I was in a "no win" situation. Turns out I was worried for nothing! Matt got my case dismissed and I have no criminal record! I would without hesitation recommend Matt to anyone that is in a similar situation!
