Erik Bair - An excellent attorney that CARES

I was caught in the jungle that is known as work comp. After several treatments I was diagnosed with a rare disability that requires regular medications and special care. Once I received my diagnosis and frightening treatment options I decided to call an attorney which is how I gratefully came to Erik. I had many questions and concerns over my injuries and disability and when I spoke with Erik on the phone he provided me with real honest answers about my rights and responsibilities as an injured worker. I felt much better after speaking with Erik and he said if I had other questions to call back. There was no pressure to come in, just straight honest information that I needed. Fast forward about a month and another surgery that was preapproved by work comp, and I received a balance due bill for it. I was also having problems getting my meds filled and getting approval for specialty care for my disability. I called Erik and asked if my husband and I could come in for a consultation. Not even half way though the consult we decided to ask Erik to take my case and he agreed. Once Erik became my attorney I no longer had to worry about the work comp stuff, my only concern was taking care of myself. If I had any issues with getting the medications or approvals for procedures the doctors ordered I called Erik and he made sure that I got the care I was entitled to. Not only this but he followed up with a call to ensure that everything was okay. I'm not sure how many people can say that but I CAN. This is who Erik is. When work comp wanted to start talking about a settlement they offered more money with no future medical OR less money with medical. Erik told me that he was obligated to explain both offers and after he did he said his advice was to keep the medical. That is exactly what I wanted to do and I honestly knew that would be Erik's advice as well. In this day of the almighty dollar ruling most peoples decisions, especially when an attorney stands to profit from the more money offer, Erik once again showed his true character. I would definitely recommend Erik to anyone who has the misfortune having a serious work related injury.

My name is Erik I have been helping Iowans protect their rights since graduating from Drake Law School in 2001. I practice primarily in workers' compensation helping injured workers and in personal injury law (car, truck and motorcycle accidents, dog bites, etc.).

I grew up in Des Moines and graduated from East High School. I worked my way through college while attending undergraduate at Iowa State, working for the city as a laborer and evenings for a hospital. Blessed!

I would give a 10 star rating for Erik Bair if it was possible. He is very professional and enlightened with knowledge. Everything went extremely well and was handled with ease. A quote I found from Conception Abbey sums it up: "Today in the Gospel, we hear about the storm on the sea and Jesus sleeping. His disciples are filled with anxiety, saying, “‘Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?’ He woke up, rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, ‘Quiet! Be still!’ The wind ceased and there was great calm. Then he asked them, ‘Why are you terrified? Do you not yet have faith?’” I have been through some pretty tough storms, and as a follower of Christ and the Immaculata, the storms and the crosses are just going to get heavier, but as brothers in the monastery and friends in my office have reminded me, “you’re not alone, we can help carry your cross for you!” Always rely on those closest to you just as the disciples relied on Jesus when they thought they were perishing at sea. Workman comp.

Work injury

Where to start with Erik? First off, just an absolute amazing human in general. He made he feel more like a friend than anything. Made everything seem simpler than i imagined. Alway returned calls and emails right away. As for my work injury case, i was diagnosed with convergence paralysis which is very rare and not to many people know what it is. Most doctors have no idea, let alone an attorney. Erik took all the time he had to find out all the information about it. Calling doctors to get any information about it. As a result, the more he was able to learn, the more I was able to settle for. The fact he took the time to become knowledgeable of something that is so rare absolutely amazed me. Without his extreme efforts, i know for a fact i would not of received anything close to what he was able to get me. He was able to get me more than 100% of the pay I could of potentially received. So if you have any doubts about hiring an attorney for a work related injury, take it from me and hire Erik. You will not be disappointed at all.

Erik was a great lawyer to work with

Erik helped us with a personal injury claim. My husband was injured in a fall and the insurance company was not wanting to be responsible. Erik Bair is first and foremost a very kind and compassionate person. He took our case and handled it with professionalism. Erik gave us updates as the case progressed. Mr . Bair was very good. He returned my phone calls promptly, and kept me fully informed thru out the case. The only thing I wish, I could have met him once in person to know who was representing me even though I know it wouldn't have changed the out come of the case. (That's just me.) I would strongly recomend Erik Bair for your workers compensation claim.

I was injured at work and have had several surgeries and became permanently disabled. I followed the rules and contacted my HR department and was sent to the local doctor. From the beginning I contacted Eric Bair and he agreed to take my case. He was a lifesaver. When it all began I had to fight for the proper care and surgery needed. Erik fought for me and was able to see that I received the proper care. It was a very difficult and confusing time. Erik guided me through each process and I had confidence I would get through this. It was also a time of stress financially. We had drained our savings and retirement so fast and I believed the dream of retirement at my age was no longer possible. Once the case was settled everything I had lost was given back. Now I am retired. It is a time of great pain and confusion so I would recommend anyone in the same situation to call Erik Bair.

My experience…

I reached out to Walker, Billingsley & Bair after dealing with an injury that I sustained while working. It took me awhile to come to the conclusion that I needed some kind of representation since I felt that I was alone and didn’t feel as if I had the support that I needed when dealing with work comp adjusters and their doctors that I was to see. Once I called Walker, Billingsley & Bair, I was appointed to Erik Bair who listened to me and got me the confidence to move forward with my case. During my time working with Mr. Bair, I felt as if I had someone who I could trust and wasn’t pressured to do anything that I wasn’t confrontable with doing…it was all up to me and even when decisions were being made, I wasn’t persuaded in any way. If anyone is like me, feeling as if you’re betraying your employer when it’s not your fault that you were injured on the job and thinking of obtaining some sort of legal advice; I would say that when obtaining legal counsel, do it sooner than later and you’ll be happy that you did. Even after my case had been resolved, my attorney still gives me the respect that I deserve when I call for a simple question and gives me 100% of his time by following up very quickly on any question that I may have before and after my case.

Highly recommend Erik Bair

Erik was highly recommended to me after I injured my shoulder at work. I touched base with him after my 1st surgery failed and my WorkComp advised an "experimental procedure" as I had complications with my injury. After meeting with him and seeing that he truly cared about my situation as an individual and not just being another client, I hired him on the spot and without hesitation. Since then he has been very active in keeping my situation beneficial to me, and both keeping me updated and being extremely accessible to contact. His knowledge in the area of workplace injury is stellar. I could have has serious issues with my injury and my case had it not been for his knowledge of how the system works. I was very nervous and uneasy about my future and what it held until I hired Erik. I'm now confident that things will work out well, and not just monetarily but that my rights as an injured worker will not be abused or infringed upon. It's definitely a nice balance with him. Some lawyers will promise high settlements but only be in it for their share and not care about you. Also if their promises don't pan out, they'll still take their large share. Erik will be up front with you from the beginning about what to expect throughout the process, and the agreement is worked out at the beginning, and honored throughout. All in all I put forth my 110% confidence in Erik concerning all areas of my case, and would 110% recommend him to everyone wanting the best representation in their case by someone who truly cares about you as an individual, and will do the most to see that you receive all you're entitled to in all areas.

I am a Registered Nurse who experienced a shoulder injury at my job.

Erik worked with me and guided me throughout my difficult time while manuvering through the workers compensation system after I experienced an injury at work. Erik was always available to answer any questions I had with the treatment I received at work after I was injured, to helping me get the surgery I needed after the workers comp. doctor said there was nothing further he would do for me. Erik was able to negotiate with workers compensation, getting them to agree to pay for my surgery and continued tempory total disability payments throughout my recovery until I was release to return to work. Erik was able to navigate throught the negotiation process and secure a settlement far above of what I anticipated. I would recommend Erik to any one who is going through a workers compensation claim. Let Eric help before you try to navigate it on your own. You will not only get a lawyer who has expert knowlege of the workers compensation laws and process, but you will also gain a great friend who cares about his clients.
