When subpoenaed as a witness for the prosecution in a criminal trial, through no fault of my own, I ended up in a bad situation. When I went for my witness prep meeting, I was literally attacked and by their threats, I was led to believe that if I didn’t say what they wanted me to say when I testifie...d, regardless of what the truth actually was, they would charge me with perjury, along with a list of criminal charged. They claimed they had proof I was lying to them, although I was shown NOTHING, not even my own previous statements made when the police spoke with me with body cams recording in the course of their investigation. So proof of what, I had no idea! And to top it off, apparently to keep me isolated, I was told I could tell NO ONE about this meeting, especially NOT my husband or family! Now I’m 72 years old and never had to consider hiring a lawyer before in my life. In fact, I’ve never even gotten a traffic ticket! I was so stressed over how they had treated me, and what they had threatened me with, that I couldn’t eat or sleep for two days. (I kind of figured they had lied to me, but not being a LEO or a lawyer, I wasn’t sure, so I wasn’t taking any chances.) Since I had NO intention of lying for them, and with the threat of perjury, plus other I-have-no-idea things, hanging over my head, I contacted Atty Ryan Maesen. He was the voice of reason in all the chaos. Ryan was very attentive and empathetic to my problem and he knows the law well! He listened to everything and explained to me what they could and could not legally do. (Yep, they lied.) Since he did not represent either of the parties in the trail, he could not object to their questioning, but he did advised me on how to conduct myself and on how to answer the questions, but not what to say. He accompanied me to court and was right beside me while I testified as truthfully as I remembered. (It's funny how the prosecution changed their attitude towards me once they found out I hired a lawyer.) It looks like everything has turned out ok, but he said if they still wanted to press the perjury issue, there were things we could counter with. Hopefully, it’s all over and done with, and they leave me alone. I highly recommend Atty Ryan Maesen if you need any kind of help regarding a criminal case, even when you aren’t the criminal! And his costs are reasonable.

I was looking at a felony and at least four misdemeanors and didn't know what I was gonna do. The anxiety was excruciating but Ryan assured me that I wasn't alone during that stressful time and I believed him-which for me is a rarity-I felt informed and that he was sincerely invested in my case. I was living in Indiana at the time, and I got in some legal trouble just over the state line in a small town called New Buffalo, Michigan. Not only was I new to Michigan, but I had just recently moved to the midwest and didn't know anyone besides my immediate family. I needed a criminal attorney a...nd I needed one fast. I only had two weeks until my first court appearance when I started my search. Mr. Maesen's name was one of several that came up on my search and I promptly called. The prosecutor offered me a misdemeanor and Mr. Maesen and I firmly believed I didn't commit a crime and refused to accept any offer they had. After refusal of the misdemeanor the prosecutor informed us they were charging me w a felony and Mr. Maesen and I decided if they were moving forward and would charge me with a felony. This would mean Mr. Maesen and I would have to go to trial to fight this charge. I had never been convicted of anything in my entire life and I was pretty scared in all honesty. All along Mr. Maesen was confident and very reassuring to me during this stressful time of my life. 4-5 days after we refused to accept the misdemeanor charges, Mr. Maesen called and informed me that ALL CHARGES were dropped. I had done my research and found out that Mr. Maesen was a great trial attorney w a very high success rate. In all honesty I was nervous to go to a trial for my first time, but all of these nerves quickly came to rest when my attorney got ALL CHARGES dropped. I would recommend Ryan Maesen to anyone in the entire state of Michigan who needs a great attorney. He went above and beyond and I couldnt have asked for a better result from a better attorney.
