I have used the services of Atty. Derrick Mayes on many occasions. He has been my lead legal advisor for over 20 years involving real estate, commercial issues, creditor's rights and preparing, defending and handling other contractual matters. He was the major legal support for a lending company capitalized at several million dollars for which I was the chairman and CEO. He helped develop the Bylaws, secured the corporate registration with the state, advised the board of directors, helped prepare lending documents the company used, and otherwise helped the company with legal issues.
I found him dependable, prompt, knowledgeable, creative, and reasonable in his charges. Unlike other lawyers, he did not find ways to pad additional time so that he could bill a larger amount. .I audited his time an charges and found them appropriate reasonable.
For matters that were beyond his specialty, he was able to refer me to other lawyers who specialized in the area and who gave good service and charged reasonably. He assisted me in helping a member of my family in overcoming a foreclosure and getting instead a lucrative cash payment from the mortgage provider.
I have had several other attorneys in my lifetime. Among them, he was the most productive for he was able to see potential problems in advance and help me protect against them, saving a lot of money from possible law suits.
Attorney Mayes is also the trustee under an irrevocable trust I have for my family. I have instructed my family members upon my death to use his services when legal matters arise. They all have his name, office and email addresses and phone numbers and know of my reliance on him to keep me out of legal problems. We all believe that an ounce of prevention is worth tons of cures.
Endorsements from fellow lawyers are an important consideration for many when selecting the right attorney. Be the first to endorse your colleague!
