I got arrested for an OWI (Operating While Intoxicated) in Ypsilanti in January of 2015. I went online and found Kelly & Kelly and emailed Jonathan about my situation and he emailed me back not even 10 minutes later saying he could help me. Jonathan immediately gave me a program to follow which consisted of AA meetings, 50 hours of community service, and attending a MADD meeting (Mothers Against Drunk Driving). I did exactly what Jonathan recommended I do. Before I went to court he had recommended I take a Substance Abuse Assessment, in which I also did. Jonathan said we were going to plead to the lower charge of Driving While Visibly Intoxicated and try to keep my license from day one. Jonathan met with me about a week before my court date and told me exactly what was going to happen at court, and what the judge was going to say, and he told me to act confident and not nervous. This helped ALOT knowing what to expect. On my court date Michael Kelly came with me because Jonathan had an emergency felony case, but Jonathan made sure I was in good hands. Michael Kelly was also amazing and had a great statement to the judge about how I did AA meetings, community service, a MADD meeting, and a substance abuse assessment. I walked out of the court room with the lower charge of Driving While Visibly Impaired, only a restricted license, and NO PROBATION!!! Michael said he has never had a case where someone charged with drunk driving has no probation at all so that was amazing. These two were extremely helpful, confident, and comforting along the way and helped make this awful experience a much better one. If you are smart enough to hire either of these guys make sure you DO EXACTLY WHAT THEY TELL YOU AND FOLLOW THE PROGRAM THEY GIVE YOU!!!

Jonathan managed to get two charges of second degree retail fraud dropped - a task that I assumed was impossible, and would be for most lawyers.
I could not have picked a better lawyer in terms of professionalism and the ability to get what needs to be done completed.
There is a "no BS" mentality when dealing with Jonathan that is hard to come across. He simply knows what needs to be done and helps you get there.
If you want the best, clear, helpful solution to getting a legal issue solved, then look no further! Simply not a question if you are serious about your future.

Mr paul was very responsive and quick to get back to me. He even took time out of his vacation time with his family to answer my questions.
It was important to keep a clean record because of my profession, and we were able to do so. His program works, and I would highly recommend him to anyone in trouble. Cheers!

John knows exactly the right steps to take with an MIP case. It takes a decent amount of work on your end, but the result is no MIP on your record, period. He saved me from a world of hurt, he can save you too.

I hired Mr. Paul to help me with a DUI case as I have to drive to work on a daily basis and fly around the country, and even outside the country.
I had a prior record and was very worried about what would happen with my case in terms of jail and my driver's license. Mr. Paul put me on a proactive plan, which allowed me to show that I was willing to make changes in my life and show that going forward I would stay on the right path, and was not a danger to the community.
In the end, we got a great result, and I was very happy with the plan and the result. I would highly recommend Mr. Paul for a DUI case.

Jonathan represented me through a first offense OWI charge in one of the toughest counties in the state of MI. He was very upfront with me, kept me well informed and promptly answered any question that I had throughout the six week process. He was very thorough from beginning to end and was able to get my charge dropped to OWVI. The lesser charge prevented my drivers license from being suspended for thirty days and thus, preventing severe, life-altering consequences. He helped me prove that a person of good character can make a very poor decision that warrants punishment but it doesn't have to be the most severe. Because of Jonathan's guidance and representation, I was only given a one day class on alcoholism, two days of community service and six months probation with only two visits and no drug testing. I highly recommend him as a attorney with great skill and character.

James Amberg, Criminal defense Attorney
Relationship: Fellow lawyer in community
When I first met John, he was beating me up as a prosecutor. When I heard John became a defense attorney, I was elated for two reasons, first that I wouldn't have to go against him any more, and two, that anybody charged with a crime an Ann Arbor and Washtenaw County have an exceptional criminal defense attorney who gets the job done. As a defense attorney, John uses his extensive experience to craft solutions to tough cases. As a fellow defense lawyer, I rely on John's advice in my own cases. If you are in Ann Arbor and are in trouble, call John, he will help you.
