Disappointed

My brothers and I paid Judy Coleman $3,000 for retainer fee in 2022 we wanted her to represent us in probate court in Wayne county to get guardianship over our mother this has been a long heartbreaking I convinced my brothers that we needed a lawyer I thought Judy Coleman would have been the lawyer t...o represent us I was mistaken, I lost one of my brothers the day before Thanksgiving 2024 it hurts because I really liked her I leave phone calls never get any return calls my suggestion to people check around and talk to other lawyers before you decide who to represent you.. I'm still fighting the court to modify the court appointed guardian.

Bad Experience

Hired Judy to handle my case and things started OK. Then I was passed off to her incompetent partner, Kristen April. Things fell off a cliff from there. I met with her and stated I did not want her partner but she explained how she would work with her. Never happened. All in all they were always unpr...epared, late or showing at the last minute. Always reactive, never proactive. In the end innocent people suffered. I was offered a partial refund but it was too late to start over with someone else. She did remark that her partner could be flakyand only seemed to work when she felt like it. Towards the end I took my paperwork to a different attorney, they lowered and shook their head, apologizing for their colleagues bad work and the unnecessary suffering that had to follow. Its best if you do your research and find someone who can work for you, even if it cost a bit more.

Worst experience. Beware

I hired her in September over a visitation issue and hired her to file a motion for supervised visitation. I gave her 1,000 when I hired her. She told me that Thursday, the motion would be filed Monday. Tuesday came I hadn't heard from her so I messaged her asking. I was told it would be filed the ...next day. That day came and went and I messaged her again. I kept asking if she got my files I sent her with also no response. She got very hostile and told me I needed to "chill out" then she sent me an email saying every message she has to respond to I'm being charged for. I asked for my money back she told me no refunds. Finally after 42 days passed and my motion still was never filed I decided to fire her. She threatened me saying if I posted a negative review I would have bigger problems. Then the next day She messaged me apologizing and blamed her partner April and told me I would get a refund at the end of nov. then she told me my motion was coincidentally drafted the day I fired her and asked if she should file it. I said no. I had already fired her officially. she then offered to do my case for free but I declined. I messaged her in the beginning of Dec asking where my money was that she said she would return. She said she would check with her partner and then asked if I wanted her help with my case. No!!! I messaged her again multiple times asking why I haven't got my refund. She kept giving me excuses for why she hasn't checked with whoever issues the checks. It's now Jan and still have nothing.

You know, we tried but I may have simply been too hopeful that we could hurry up and get it done. Good work takes time and unfortunately you were unable to wait for us. We understand and apologize. Judy

Ms. Coleman's expertise

We have known Ms. Coleman a long time. We needed to have our Trust reviewed and updated. She and her team did exactly what we asked and for a reasonable fee.

Holly L. O’Neill

After leaving my firm, I consulted Judy Coleman regarding my unemployment claim; an appointment was made to come in and speak regarding the situation. A large amount of time was spent with me preparing me with a written timeline for the phone conference I was going to have the next week. The office ...was always very kind, professional and caring. To add to the entire experience, I never was asked for any money nor did I receive a invoice. I truly appreciated everything that was done for me in my time of need. Thank you!!
