RUN the other way! Save your time, money, and sanity.
I’m a professional, well-educated woman who believed I had done my research in hiring a competent and aggressive attorney. I was very wrong.
I hired this firm in February after my previous attorney became unavailable. The initial response was ...great—quick callback, thorough case interview, and what seemed like solid support. Based on that, I paid a $5,000 retainer. Everything went downhill from there.
I was assigned to Attorney James Higgs. Communication was nearly nonexistent. You cannot reach his support staff—they will only tell you to contact the attorney directly and will not even take a call from you the client. James only responds via text (when he feels like it) and refuses to use email, likely to avoid a paper trail.
He made zero progress on my case, and even failed to support motions brought by us into court. He then failed to forward motions filed against me as plaintiff , dropped motions we had discussed once we got to court, and didn’t even submit interrogatories during a six-week period. His time entries included copying documents I had already given him and even billing me for walking to his copier at home.
After $5,000 spent and nothing to show for it, they now claim I owe another $3,000.
I am filing a complaint with the Michigan Bar Association and speaking with another firm regarding potential malpractice.
Please don’t make the same mistake I did. Avoid this firm.
