Venar R. Ayar is the principal and founder of Ayar Law Group, a Detroit, Michigan, area boutique tax law firm that focuses exclusively on tax problem resolution. This exclusive concentration has enabled Mr. Ayar to stay on top of the constant procedural changes in tax law and sharply hone tough negotiation skills which are critical for helping clients with tax problems. Mr. Ayar represents both individuals and businesses. He believes in an individualized approach to minimize clients’ exposure and protect their assets whether in the United States or abroad; he meets personally with each and every Ayar Law Group client. Ayar Law Group is headquartered in Southfield, Michigan with satellite offices in Detroit, Troy, Farmington Hills and Novi.
Mr. Ayar successfully represents clients for both state and federal cases including negotiating back taxes agreements, defending tax audits, appealing tax audits (even if he was not the attorney in the original audit), representing tax preparers, defending criminal tax fraud cases and obtaining tax debt relief such as favorable debt settlements and release of tax liens and levies. In addition to representing Michigan clients, Mr. Ayar and his firm advise clients worldwide who have foreign bank accounts but may not have fully complied with foreign bank disclosure reporting requirements (FBAR).
Mr. Ayar graduated cum laude with his Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Diego School of Law, which has one of the country’s top tax law programs. After graduation, Mr. Ayar continued his legal education at USD and earned an LLM degree, a Master of Laws in Taxation, which is a high-level degree held by only a miniscule number of the country’s attorneys.
Mr. Ayar was born and raised in the Detroit, Michigan, metro area. Prior to founding Ayar Law Group, he was a tax attorney at RJS Law, southern California’s largest tax law firm. Before working there, Mr. Ayar worked for several years in metro Detroit as a busy and successful solo tax law practitioner. In addition to years of experience practicing as a Michigan tax attorney, Mr. Ayar has owned and operated several small businesses, including an accounting and tax preparation business, supermarkets and a hotel. His business and accounting background gives him a solid and insightful understanding of the challenges facing small businesses today.
Mr. Ayar has appeared as a tax expert on Channel 7 WXYZ Detroit and Channel 4 WDIV Detroit.
