I am a solo practitioner focusing on criminal defense, family law and probate law. I was raised in the West Bloomfield until 7th grade, when my family moved to Bloomfield Hills. I attended West Hills Middle School and Andover High School for 10th grade before I changed high schools. I graduated from Pickering College, an all-male boarding school of 200 students in Newmarket, Ontario. My first roommate was Kyam Abdullah, who came to the school from Trinidad. Student came from around the world, including Peru, Venezuala, Mexico, Iran, China, the Bahamas, Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo), and elsewhere.
After graduating I returned to the Detroit area and waited tables, cooked and bartended. After 12 years in the restaurant industry I enrolled at Wayne State University to obtain my bachelors degree in journalism. I wrote for various local publications, including the DAC News, the feature magazine of the Detroit Athletic Club. After graduating from Wayne State in 2001 I moved to New Hampshire to write for a bi-weekly newspaper, The Rockingham News. I also became involved in community theater, acting, stage managing, and operating lights and sound in a variety of plays at The Players Ring theater and elsewhere in the Seacoast region.
After spending four years in New Hampshire I returned to Michigan to attend law school. I worked as a television news producer for the Lansing NBC affiliate WILX Channel 10 while attending law school. My career trajectory has taken me from a job serving the public, to a job informing the public, to a new career protecting the public's civil rights.
My experiences in life are what drove me, at 35, to become a lawyer. Having been wrongly accused in the past, and having family that has been through the criminal justice system, I know the personal toll defending accusation takes not just on the accused, but on his or her family as well. I am also the product of a broken home and have personal knowledge of how the system can destroy relationships. Having butted heads with landlords, employers, credit card companies, and other business entities, I decided to empower myself to protect my rights and the rights of others who have been abused by the powerful and corrupt.
Hourly ($150-225/hour), Fixed (sometimes)
