Patrick Barone literally writes the book(s) on OWI charges. He is cerebral, pragmatic, and is held in high regard in tough courts and strict judges. Communication is a core strength. My first meeting with Patrick lasted 2 hours! Patrick is the consummate professional, streaming information and guidance on the legal process, potential risks, and providing prudent advice to yield the best possible legal outcome. He answered and replied to all emails and correspondences. Patrick is also empathetic of the stress and turmoil of his clients. He has a genuine passion to help people improve their lives. For anyone who is looking for the best, look no further! Patrick is the best at what he does, principled, and I am grateful for what he did for me.

Patrick was there every step of the way. I tested super drunk and Patrick was able to get it reduced to a DWI. I feel because of his history and relationships he was able to convey my story to prosecutor and judge in a way that enabled them to justify reducing my charge and sentence. He guided and educated me throughout the entire process. I know he's not cheap but I have no doubt that it wasn't just a lawyer that got me the results. It was Patrick. The best in the business. Thanks

I was devastated when I was arrested for my first DUI on a Friday night. I looked up online for lawyers around Michigan and called Barone Defense on Saturday and left a message. My call was immediately returned by a junior attorney and spoke to me for an hour. He then sent me some paperwork to document the details of my arrest before I forget them. Monday first thing I met Patrick and he spoke to me for an hour. He gave several examples of his work but never promised what would be the outcome of the case and finally I hired Patrick on Tuesday after weighing in pros and cons with another lawyer.
All of this is completely new for me and had to make a decision quickly as I have another situation with my vehicle. I was driving a company vehicle and had to report any drunk driving arrests to the company in 48 business hours. Patrick also advised me to discuss the incident with my immediate manager even though it was not required by policy. This recommendation later helped me get a letter from my manager about my work ethic and my social habits which Patrick effectively used for my defense.
If someone is telling you that they would get your case dismissed on your first or second meeting, please watch out. They are wrong and just selling you so you can hire them. The outcome of the case is not in the hands of any attorney. It is always based on the facts of the case and your attorney should able to present them in the court for you to get a best possible outcome. Patrick explained what could be potential outcomes with various "what-if" scenarios and their analysis.
Patrick is honest, dependable and very professional. He is also very patient with my persistence to ask for "reckless driving" or some other non-drunk driving charge but he knew the 52nd court is probably one of the most strict courts on drunk driving offenses. He slowly prepared me to plead impaired driving which is certainly not the outcome I desired but I can say he did his best to get the charges and sentencing lowered in a very tough court.
If you are in a tough situation and need peace of mind, you should make Patrick your "partner" and let him handle the situation.

He was very professional about his job and did a lot of work behind the scenes to make sure that I was getting the best outcome possible. He worked very hard and kept me updated the entire time so that there was not any surprises to come my way.

Mr. Barone is extremely knowledgeable and professional. I contacted him after being arrested for a DUI and he returned my call immediately and spent well over an hour listening to my story and explaining the entire process. He never made me feel bad for what I had done and treated me like a colleague. He kept me informed the entire process and even though my charge was Super Drunk he was able to get it reduced to an impaired with probation and community service. If it was not for him this process would have been a nightmare. I am so glad I hired him and I highly recommend him

I was arrested on multiple counts and thought my life was over. My case involved mental health and Mr. Barone was able to integrate this into my defense. I plead to all misdemeanors and had a very comfortable sentencing.
Mr. Barone is very responsive to emails and is very reachable. Would recommend him to anyone.

Please read the following review, but if you choose not to read the whole thing I want you to know this: every penny spent with Patrick Barone is worth its weight in gold. If you’re in a tough situation and you need the best representation, I’d highly recommend Patrick. I interviewed the “best” lawyers around SE Michigan and was initially hesitant to spend so much money on a lawyer, but in hindsight, I made the perfect choice and do not regret it one bit.
I was arrested for drunk driving in Orchard Lake Michigan and my case ended up in the 48th District Court. This was my 2nd OWI. After speaking to many lawyers and doing some research on that court, I knew the odds were against me. I interviewed over ten lawyers and I ended up hiring Mr. Barone, and he eventually got my case entirely dismissed!
I got pulled over and I refused the breath test, and my blood test came back at a .136. My first few conversations with Patrick centered around making sure my life was in order. He recommended various “self-improvement modalities” in which his prior clients have had positive experiences from.
Meanwhile, the case was going through “the motions” (no pun intended). It went through pre-trails and adjournments for over 4 months. Nothing was particularly fruitful of these adjournments, I believe they were just standard operating procedure as a case like this evolves. During this time period, Patrick spent a considerable amount of time with me (Probably close to 8 hours just over the phone) discussing possible strategies for the case. Bottom line, they had a blood test with .136 on it. I felt doomed. At least I knew I had a good lawyer.
I struggled on deciding whether to plead guilty or go to trial (there are no deals made at the 48th district court). Patrick help me come to the decision that going to trial was the best option. As it turns out, that decision was imperative.
As we were walking into the court to say we’re going to trial, Patrick advised that I retain an expert witness. I was reluctant due to my ignorance of trial strategies, but ultimately conceded to his advice. Once again, as it turns out, that decision ended up being imperative later on.
During the days leading up to the trial, there we’re certain “technical law” things that were said by the prosecutor. To explain the “technical law” things would be outside the scope of this review, but let’s just say Patrick was very quick to point these out and the be strategically responsive and considerate on what “chess move” to make next. On the date of the trial, the prosecutor was not prepared to try the case. The prosecutor moved to dismiss my case, which I guess is fairly common if they’re not ready to try the case at that time.
They ended up re-filing the case against me, and Patrick argued that it was against the law (double jeopardy) to try the case again. Another month passed of interviewing the prosecutor’s and the Judge soliciting various information channels, including an immaculate written argument prepared by Patrick and another top-notch Appellate lawyer Patrick looped-in (Good thing he has a great network).
Judgement day arrived. Tensions were high. No one knew what was going to happen. We expected the Judge to have a written judgement that he would articulate to the court. I speculated this may take 5 minutes or so. The judgement was to rule whether or not the original dismissal was illegal, aka “Dismiss with or without prejudice”. The Judge ruled to dismiss with prejudice and the case was over. Looking back, if it weren’t for the “slow play” approach of Patrick, the advice he gave me, the fact he suggested I go to trial, and the fact I should retain an expert – this never would have happened.
To the layman: Patrick’s thoughtful approach and wise advice in my case let to a dismissal (with prejudice) based on a technicality that might have been overlooked by more inexperienced lawyers. Retain him – you will not regret it!

The Staff at Barone Law firm was very helpful in a very scary first DUI situation. it happened over the weekend and his associates were the only ones to call me back. They also presented the facts of the case as to what to do in the critical first steps. Barone law was nice and presented the truth of how things go. The assistance was what i needed to lower my blood pressure and i was grateful.

I needed a good night sleep, so I took Ambien and went to bed. I woke up arrested, charged with an OUID, and my career future in danger. When I looked for a lawyer with Ambien experience in MI, I found Patrick Barone. From the first day I talked with him, I had the piece of mind that my sleep driving case would have the best possible outcome. Patrick knows the science and the system. My case was quickly reduced to a civil infraction. Don’t take prescription controlled substances if you can avoid them— those labels warnings are real. However, if you find yourself in my situation, you want to get the Barone Defense firm on your side.
