As a client who was dealing with bipolar she was able to get it dropped down to a theft from grand theft and me into an in lieu-of-conviction program in which it will be dismissed.
We had an issue regarding a significant traffic violation in the Akron area regarding my son. We interviewed Stacy via phone as we lived out of state. We selected Stacy as we felt comfortable with her and her defense strategy. She was very thorough and conducted herself in a competent and professional manner. The end result was favorable. I would highly recommend Stacy!!
As a former prosecutor for over 15 years I know exactly what the state needs to prove and how they plan to do it. I taught many aspects of Criminal Law to agencies in Summit County. My previous experience can help find any potential weaknesses in their case against you.
DUI's are serious and enhanceable offenses. Because of my experience prosecuting these cases I know how to find weaknesses in the state's case. I wrote DUI / OMVI policy currently being used by law enforcement agencies in Summit County.
Criminal charges are serious and often very stressful. Please take a moment to look through my profile and qualifications. I'm a former prosecutor with more than 17 years of legal experience. Because of my previous experience I know exactly what the state needs to prove and can find weaknesses in the case against you. I have extensive DUI / OMVI experience and wrote policies currently being used by law enforcement agencies in Summit County. I provided training to many of those same agencies in many aspects of both DUI and Criminal Law which makes me uniquely qualified to represent my clients.

Amazing attorney!!
I would highly recommend Stacy. With so many people against us saying guilty before even hearing our case, she spent hours examining every detail of our case and ended up getting it dismissed!!!

Attorney that fights to win and does not quit
Stacy represented me in a self defense trial that was considered by the state to be felonious assault. The state would not hear my side as they had deemed me guilty from the beginning. I was facing 11 years in prison, my parents would have passed while I was imprisoned for defending my life and the life of my fiance. Stacy's knowledge and experience as prosecutor turned defense attorney delves deeply into the esoteric and seemingly cabalistic reaches of the law. Ultimately, with much effort and armed with that knowledge and truth, she prevailed and I was acquitted. I will forever be grateful to Stacy McGowan. I cannot put into words the level of professionalism, candor and kindness bestowed upon myself and my family by Stacy.

Hard working and straight shooter
Stacy was appointed by the court to represent me but you would never have guessed that by how hard she worked for me. Tells you the truth even when you don't want to hear it, refreshing change from past attorneys I had that just wanted to pad their wallets. As hard as she worked for me in a minor case I can't imagine how hard she'd work for a paying client ! Got me a fair deal probably better than I deserved. Her years as a prosecutor really show when u see her in court.

Very down to earth, knowledgeable, attorney
Attorney McGowan was extremely knowledgeable regarding criminal law. I found her to be down to earth and was able to explain the process in clear and understandable terms. She was a great help during a very stressful time for me. I was glad to have her in my corner.

A good choice
I worked with McGowan for 15 years as a police officer. She was a very competent prosecutor who was very experienced and well aware of the common mistakes the law enforcement officers make. Unfortunately, prosecutors work for politicians and they tend to move on to other work when elections are lost and Stacy is now working the defense side of things. What this means to a defendant is that you are hiring a defense attorney that knows the faults and shortcomings of most of the officers in Summit County. This can only be to your advantage.

Skilled and sincere
Attorney McGowan assisted me throughout my OVI charge. Although I was convicted, her work resulted with minimal consequences.

better to defend yourself.
Stacy assured us through the whole 4.5 months of waiting for conviction that id be able to keep my job, would be available for work release immediately and would most likely serve 30 of a 90 day sentence in a halfway house. Except i was not released for work for weeks, lost my job because of that, and was told by caseworker that 90 days was minimum. Then when i called to ask why none of what she said would happen is and she said just hang in there. Ive been offered drugs, lost my job and house, threatened over a dollar by goons and am being refused my medication while supposedly being helped.
Helping people is not what the system is made for even though she does a good job of convincing you otherwise.

"I endorse this lawyer.
Stacy is a great lawyer. She was a prosecutor for over 15 years and always treated me very respectful when we had cases together. She is very knowledgeable and hard working. Whenever I need any advice about OMVI questions I go to her! The prosecutors better watch out now that she is on the other side."
