About me

Welcome to my AVVO Profile.  My name is Patrick Leary.  I am a licensed attorney in the State of Ohio.  While attending law school, I worked with my father, Lynn Leary, as law clerk and legal researcher.  Upon passing the Ohio Bar Exam, I was hired by the Cuyahoga County Prosecutors Office.  I earned my way through the ranks and became a Trial Attorney in the General Felony and Community-Based Prosecution Unit.  While assigned to those units, I gained trial experience and became a well-seasoned litigator. Trials included Aggravated Murder through simple Drug offenses.

After five years, I determined it was time to establish a private practice and again enjoy the opportunity to work with my father.  Focusing primarily on Criminal Defense & OVI, my practice concentrates on protecting the rights of the accused, case evaluation and research, plea negotiations (damage control), and when a plea offer is unreasonable or unacceptable to the client, trial litigation.  I represent clients from all walks of life in a wide variety of criminal and traffic situations; no case too big nor too small.  My experience allows me to provide a vast range of representation from Aggravated Murder, Rape/Sexual Battery/GSI, Burglary/RobberyTheft, Weapons Charges, Assault and Drugs, down through OVI/DUI/DUS, Traffic Offenses and Minor Misdemeanors.

Although my practice focuses heavily on Criminal Defense and OVI, please do not hesitate to contact me regarding other legal concerns. Through my years of experience in the legal practice, I have developed relationships with many colleagues who are focused in other areas of the law. If your need falls outside the purview of my experience, I may be able to recommend several other trustworthy and competent attorneys better suited to advise on your situation.

Serving the following Counties: Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Portage, Summit, Medina, Lorain, Huron, Erie, Sandusky and Ottawa.  I am licensed to practice throughout the State of Ohio, however, if your case falls outside the Counties mentioned above, you may be better suited to seek local representation.  If you need assistance with recommending a local attorney in your area, please do not hesitate to contact me and I will be more than happy to assist.

Thank you for your interest, please call anytime for more information or to schedule an appointment to discuss your legal matter.

  • David Scott Bartos

I endorse this lawyer. I was a prosecuting attorney for Cuyahoga County and Patrick Leary was also an assistant prosecutor. His knowledge of criminal law is amazing. I am always happy to see his name as representing a co-defendant on a case. His previous employment as an assistant prosecutor allowed him to learn the system and gave him the knoweledge to win your case.
