Criminal Defense

I contacted Mr Gilbert late one afternoon after coming to the realization that just because I didn’t commit the crime I was accused of didn’t mean I didn’t need a good attorney. I had just been told that I was looking at 10 years and it was clear that the prosecutor wasn’t interested in what I bel...ieved proved my innocence. I was extremely scared when I called and Mr Gilbert was with his family but took the time to hear me out and he immediately answered what he could of my questions as if I was a valued client although we didn’t know each other which made me comfortable putting my fait in his hands. I’ll admit Mr Gilbert is best at being an attorney rather than a shoulder to cry on and my suggestions on strategies and opinions about him not doing enough were not all that welcomed but I didn’t understand the realities of the legal system and was afraid so I certainly felt bad about insinuating he wasn’t doing enough. (Especially when he called to inform me that my case had been dismissed lol.)

Prosecutor

I hired him thinking since he had prosecutor experience he would make a good defense attorney. I feel like he sided with the prosecution throughout my defense. To his credit, he was always available and accessible. Never hire a former prosecutor to defend you.

It can be quite challenging to try and meet expectations that are unrealistic. Generally speaking, once a client has voluntarily given a full, videotaped confession, after having been caught on video committing the crime, it is frequently the best strategy to work out the best deal possible. In cases like that, getting the prosecutor to recommend to the judge that your client be given probation, instead of the recommended sentence of 36 months, is a substantial achievement in and of itself. Having the judge reject that recommendation, but cut the guideline sentence in half is still a positive result, although not what was hoped for. Of course, the client is always told what the possibilities are and is regularly cautioned not to assume that the judge will follow the government's recommendation with regard to sentencing.

Grateful for Mr Gilbert

Mr Gilbert was diligent in working with my case to present the evidence and proof of innocence. He file petition with the court to attempt to get it thrown out in advance. He listened and spoke to me with professionalism and care. He explained the process well and prepared me for all possible result...s.

Excellent work

Mr. Gilbert helped me out with a minor case and treated it very professionally. He helped me understand where I was, since this was my first incident and the seriousness. He wa's very straight forward and even sat with me in the court room while the judge heard my case.

Excellent (Five Stars)

Scott Gilbert served as the attorney for my son's DUI case. Selecting Mr. Gilbert to handle the case proved to be a very wise decision. Attorney Gilbert represented my son in court and we (my son and I) appreciated the way Scott handled the case. Scott was very professional, effective, knowledgeab...le, and gave a strong impression about courtroom procedures. Based on attorney Gilbert's performance, I would gladly recommend him to friends and associates.
