Sheila Starkey Hahn graduated from the University of Buffalo with a double major in English Literature and Spanish.  She received her JD from the University of Minnesota Law School, where she worked as a Foreign Student Adviser in the Office of International Student and Scholar Services.  Ms. Starkey Hahn has a solo practice representing professionals in both immigrant and nonimmigrant visa matters. She has served as the Treasurer of the AILA DC Chapter and as the AILA DC Chapter’s Ambassador to the American Immigration Council (AIC).  Her other recent AILA positions include the DC Chapter Pro Bono Liaison and Citizenship Day Chair.  Ms. Starkey Hahn frequently lectures on topics of immigration law at AILA conferences.  She is the author of “Children’s Issues in U.S. Immigration Law: An Overview,” Immigration Briefings(May 1997) and “Immigration Fundamentals for International Lawyers, Permanent Residence through Employment,”American University International Law Review (1998) and is the co-author of “Child Status Protection Act: Recent Developments”AILA DC Chapter Conference (November 2011, with Sharon Senghor).
