Invisible War fighting for disability

I’m writing this review in appreciation for: Attorney Edwin Anderson, Dana Shelton, Paralegal at the: Disability Law, P.C. office-Knoxville TN. I wanted to express how grateful I am for everyone starting from the from the front desk because this is where it all starts with that first call , and... these people are generally not included, however they take messages to give to the paralegals, the attorneys and they are just as important so thank you !!! I know many of times I have called just to check on my sisters status or ask questions . The front staff never told me to call back and if they did they gave me a reason why . I just didn’t get .. Dana’s not here call back in hour or call back after 2pm . I know it takes quite a bit of patience to work at the front desk . However filing for disability is not something someone wants to do or maybe not have a choice at the time being but it’s there in case you have to use it and very difficult to obtain by yourself in todays society . On the other hand if you don’t have a strong advocate for you and don’t have someone fighting for you it’s even harder . The resources are out there but people don’t know where to start with the calls, the paperwork , the start and stop with old employers 5-10 years ago because you need every place you have ever worked at in your life. It's very overwhelming and even more overwhelming when you have a mental illness. Mental illness is a disease just like having diabetes or hypertension but typically is pushed to the side and not treated like that . Mental illness is ultimately harder to fight for by yourself without some legal advice that's why we get attorneys obviously. My sibling was one of those people . She was denied not once but twice this office fought to the nails for her . I’m forever grateful for all of them. It's a package deal. This firm won my sister‘s case. I gave all her information, they listened and they were very detailed with their responses , very compassionate, and they kept fighting for her, no tension was felt anywhere in the office . The process from the beginning to the end was a positive experience and I would encourage anyone looking for a disability attorney to contact this office because they will have your best interests in mind . For everyone out there don’t give up, let this office be your voice when you don’t have the fight in you anymore. Respectfully, T. Lopez

A Big Help When I Really Needed It

I had tried to handle my own case and got in over my head. Mr. Anderson took my case (my disability claim) which was approved just a few weeks after we saw the judge. Mr. Anderson took time and walked me through the process. He called me back when I had questions and got me ready to go see the jud...ge.

Very Good

I had been trying to get approved for disability for almost three years. Mr Anderson took my case found the issues in why I was getting denied. We went to the judge and I was approved. He will be very upfront with you regarding your case and if he thinks he can win he will do his very best.

Simply Fantastic

After being turned down by SS department, we hired Mr. Anderson. He went through my husband's medical records and work history with a fine tooth comb. After a review he sent letters to the physicians to complete their medical opinion of his health asking specific questions that will be necessary on...ce the court day arrived. Prior to our day in court, Mr. Anderson sat down with us and went over all the typical questions that would come up based on his experience appearing before the judge in the past. He gave my husband great guidance on how to word his answers so that there we NO vague answers: (instead of sometimes, give a specific number, instead of not far, give a length, etc.). Just prior to the trial date, he sent a letter to the judge outlining the events and medical history leading up to the request for disability. He outlined all the TCA codes which applied and an alternative one that should be considered in the event that any of the one presented were not considered as approved. I would recommend him with no reservation at all to help with anyone's social security request. It was just a couple of months after the court date that my husband started receiving his disability checks.

Thank you for the kind words, Donna. It was a pleasure to help your husband and you get the benefits that he worked so hard for over those many years. I hope the two of you do well and that his condition improves and he can get good medical care now that he will be eligible for Medicare Insurance benefits as well as his Social Security Disability Insurance benefits.

Excellent Representation

Mr. Anderson is very down to earth & easy to talk to. I instantly felt comfortable with him when we first met. After being turned down twice for disability by Social Security, I went in search of an attorney to help with my appeal. I did an internet search for attorneys who were close to my home, ...had good client reviews & success rates of winning their clients' cases. Mr. Anderson began working with me on my case in Dec. of '16 & I had heard from others in similar situations as mine that it could take years before you ever got the opportunity to even have your hearing, so I was a bit apprehensive that things would drag on for quite a while. And, with me only being in my early 40s, I thought the likelihood of being granted benefits were slim. Fortunately, it took less than 2 years for my case to be heard & tried. Mr. Anderson did a great job of representing me & my case in court with the loads of medical records & evidence from my various doctors explaining my various conditions & how they would prevent me from holding down a full time, permanent job. We had our hearing back on August 1 & the judge ruled fully favorable in my case & awarded me disability payments, etc. I'm very grateful to Mr. Anderson for all his hard work on my behalf & would highly recommend him to anyone who's needing help navigating the confusing, lengthy & sometimes frustrating process of applying for disability. Patience paid off in my case & I hope if you decide to hire Mr. Anderson, your experience is as pleasant & rewarding as mine was.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a nice review, Carrie. I appreciate you coming to me to help you with your Social Security disability case and I appreciate the patience you had during what can seem like an unreasonably long process. Your doctors were a great help and you did well at your hearing. I am glad all of our hard work and preparation paid off. If I can help you, or someone you know in the future, I hope you be sure to pass along my telephone number. Thanks again.
