Do your research before hiring a lawyer

At first I was excited to have Mr. Hoffer represent me but once he started, he seemed to not really care about my children or me for a good outcome. It seemed like he was going through the motions to get it over with. Most of the information I gave him, he didn't use and never followed up on things... that would have helped my case. He didn't stand up for me at all and just sat back and let the other lawyer get whatever they wanted. I've never seen any thing like that before. I found him to be arrogant and a pompous attitude.

Many lawyers (like me) criticize websites like this for allowing anonymous negative reviews. I would like to see websites like this one state that if a person wishes to post a negative review, that they not only prove that they were an actual client but also agree to waive the lawyer's duty of confidentiality to explain the specifics. It is all a matter of basic fairness. I am all for transparency and if the purpose of allowing reviews on a website is to help other individuals with a pending case to make an educated decision, then requiring a person to waive confidentiality would allow visitors to this website to hear actual facts of the case. Such as, what were the facts of the case? What was the actual disposition? What did the judge say about both parties? Only if the actual facts are known can an objective assessment be made by someone else. I have achieved results that clients are not thrilled with that any knowledgeable family law attorney would say was a very good outcome given the facts and the judge sitting on that particular day. As for arrogance and pompous, not sure what to say about that other than I tell clients what they need to hear, not what the want to hear. And so does the judge. And for the record, no lawyer lets another lawyer "get whatever they wanted [sic]". The judge makes the decision based on the facts of the case. For a different opposing side, here is a recent review from a satisfied client: Sarah LaCombe a month ago- If you are thinking of hiring Mr. Hoffer, do it now! My case was a difficult one stretched across two states. He approached my case with confidence and is very well versed with the law. My family and I can't thank him enough. Other reviewers that say he is arrogant, are mistaking his tactics. He is honest and straightforward which is what you want. Would you rather a lawyer tell you something to make you feel better? Or would you rather one that tells you what needs to be done for the good of your case? I would much rather the second honestly. That is exactly why my case came out better than expected. I can not thank you enough Mr. Hoffer and your staff for being informative and thorough with each detail. I will definitely be hiring Mr.Hoffer again if needed!
