A few days after my arrest, I was BOMBARDED with mail from attorneys who wanted to represent me. I called a few, but none of them felt "right". I especially disliked the ones who made promises I knew they couldn't keep. Although I wasn't sure what I was in for, I knew I wasn't going to walk away with... a slap on the wrist. Bryan Stephenson made this experience as painless as possible for me. I was pulled over after having a few beers over a course of multiple hours and arrested for a DUI, even though I performed completely fine on the sobriety test. After being told I was underarrest, I denied the breathalyzer so I... was also charged with violating Tennessee's Implied Consent Law. The typical punishment for these combined charges would be 48 hours in jail, up to a $500 fine, one year probation, DUI course, and revocation of my license for one year; however, Mr. Stephenson was able to obtain a plea bargain which dropped the Implied Consent violation and reduced the DUI charge to Reckless Driving with a $250 fine, 6 months probation and ignition interlock device, a DUI course, and no jail time. Not only was I able to keep my license, but this was all done during general sessions so I didn't have to take my case to trial - which would have extended the process by about a year and cost me much more in court and lawyer fees. I could not have asked for a better lawyer to take my case. Not only was I pleased with the end result but I was also pleased with how Mr. Stephenson treated me as a client throughout the process. I was always able to contact him when needed (which I took advantage of...a lot) and he always had a very thorough answer to any questions I had. He was also very upfront and realistic with me from the beginning, so as not to get my hopes up while still keeping me informed as to what was a good result and what was a bad one and the chances for my case to go either way. Not to mention that while at the court house I definitely felt like my guy had more knowledge than the other lawyers around me and spent much more time with me explaining the whole process before and after the judgement on my case had been made.
