I have been receiving calls for a few months now from a company who claims to have multiple formal complaints against me. I always ignore these calls, and on the voicemails they will leave a case file number and tell me if I don't respond in a tim...
Could be a scam. Or just a really persistent debt collector. If you have defaulted on a debt, and its real, then they probably have your personal information. But you will not get a phone call once a formal lawsuit has been filed against you. But what you will get is personally served with the lawsuit either by sheriff or a process server. They can't proceed in court without first serving you with the paperwork.See question

I filed for a divorce August 29, 2016. As of today my husband has not responded and refuse to sign the divorce papers. Default judgment hearing is scheduled 2/10/2017. How soon will things will be finalized.
If the defendant does not appear on that date, then the court could very well sign and enter a judgment of divorce on that date.See question
I live in TN. The law here requires a permit to carry openly or concealed. I do not have a handgun permit, but I choose to openly carry my sidearm in public anyway. If I had a police encounter, would I be thrown in jail? Keep in mind, I am NOT a f...
You must have a permit in TN to carry open or concealed. It's not difficult to get a permit; it's a quick class and some fees. TN even lowered the fee for a lifetime permit. If you open carry and have an encounter with police you can be charged with carrying a firearm without a license and numerous other charges. You're risking a lot by not just paying a few hundred dollars for a permit. And exercising your 2nd amendment right is not a valid defense in court. While the 2nd states you can keep and bear arms, states are still free to some extent to regulate that. Get a permit.See question

Typically items in a complaint are immune from such a defamation claim. That's not to say that those items are not actionable. And you also may have a potential counterclaim for other causes of action. Ultimately, it is they that have the burden of proof. Grandparent visitation is governed by statute and they must prove certain requirements to prevail. In the grandparent visitation cases that I have dealt with, usually the grandparents state uncertain or less-than-true things about the parents. But it's still their burden to prove. Consult with counsel to determine your rights and to evaluate your case.See question
