I represent clients in complex litigation, including government contracts litigation and "bet the company" matters involving trade secrets, noncompetition agreements, intellectual property, contracts, and a variety of other subjects. I have also successfully represented clients in appeals before many appellate courts, including the Fifth, Sixth, Eleventh U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeal, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the Alabama Supreme Court, and the Florida 1st District Court of Appeal, and in specialty courts like the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. I also have experience representing clients facing False Claims Act claims and in other White Collar Crime cases.
The U.S. Army trusted me to advise generals and other senior commanders in the Balkans in the 1990s. The 17,700 lawyers of Alabama trusted me to represent them, as one of the youngest Alabama State Bar Presidents in history. My clients trust me because I have handled complex cases in multiple venues, ranging from military courts-martial to U.S. Courts of Appeal, and across Alabama from Madison County to Mobile County.
In every matter entrusted to me, my goal is to provide solutions to my clients' complex legal problems in a reasonable period of time. By returning telephone calls promptly, updating clients regularly, and working harder than others, while displaying courtesy and respect toward clients, opponents, and courts, I work hard to achieve this goal.

Sterl Watson, Government contracts Attorney on Sep 21, 2020
Relationship: Worked together on matter
Richard Raleigh, Jr. and I were co-counsel in a complex business case that took years and resulted in a long trial, in 2000. The verdict was in seven figures. Just out of the Army J.A.G., Rich kept the demeanor and dignity characteristic of those who serve in that capacity. Having observed his competence, courtesy and competitiveness, his accomplishments have been no surprise. Ensuing years have projected Rich into the enviable position of being one of very few “go to guys” in government contracting in this area. He deftly weaves through the convoluted aspects of those matters, and litigation which often follows, with calm assurance. His results demonstrate ability. He was named the youngest president of our state bar while compiling an outstanding record and reputation as a business trial attorney. Achievements made by this fine citizen of our legal and public communities are too numerous to list. He has exceeded even the very high expectations I formed after working with him.
James Nation, Lawsuits and disputes Attorney on Sep 6, 2016

I worked with Rich on a complex legal dispute and he worked hard to defend our client's interests. He would be an asset to anyone needing serious representation.
