Unbelievable Results

I am a caregiver to my Wounded Warrior son. Since he has Severe Traumatic Brain Injury I was appointed his Fiduciary. The VA accused me of misusing his funds. They went from $16k in May, 2015, to $66k in June to $149k in October. I began searching for someone to help me and was having a hard time fin...ding someone. In November I found Mitchell Howie. He was a God-send!! He led me through the process of appealing the decision. He knew things to say and ask about that I never would have known. He was able to find the right people at the VA to speak to. I never found a VA person close to being near to anyone who could help me! Mr. Howie also had to deal with the company who bonded me. The VA was going to get the money from them and they were about to pay the VA (which in turn meant the bond company would come back on me to repay them for paying the VA) until Mr. Howie told them not to pay because the amount would be reduced. I am so glad he told them to wait to pay! Mr. Howie and I sent various documents and receipts and proof. Well actually, I just faxed or scanned items to Mr. Howie and he did the rest. The VA lowered the amount of misuse several times. At last count, the beginning of April, 2016, the amount of misuse was a little more than $15k. We were happy that the amount was lowered from over $149k to $15k!! We discussed my filing bankruptcy so I wouldn't have to pay the VA any money back. We knew how the system worked even though we knew that I was innocent. I can't begin to describe how full of stress I was during all that time! I couldn't sleep or eat. I became depressed. I didn't want to leave the house. Even to take my son to the doctors at the VA was mentally exhausting. I was afraid everyone there would think I was abusing my son! I had quit a job I loved and made great money at to be a full time, 24/7/365 caregiver to my son. The VA made me feel like trash by accusing me of misusing my incapacitated sons money! I knew I hadn't done anything wrong. I had every single penny accounted for but the VA wouldn't talk to me about it. But, they talked to Mr. Howie! On April 16th, 2016, I received the "Final Misuse Determination" which stated that there was NO MISUSE found! Not only that, but the new amount I was going to owe the VA was now $0.00!!!! If it weren't for Mr. Howie I seriously have no idea what would have become of me! He was kind, caring and concerned for me. He was always on my side. I've dealt with the VA since 2010 and I couldn't navigate the system to help myself. I know Mr. Howie won't consider himself a Hero, but that's what he is to my family! He not only saved my mind, he also saved my Spirit.

Hands down the best Lawyer for the job

I hired Mr. Howie to represent me not only because his reviews were spot on for what I was looking for but he is a veteran. I served in the military and for me I knew Mr. Howie had great motivation to possibly get my case dismissed. He worked diligently on my case spending numerous of hours with me... and my witnesses. It is because of his hard work and dedication to his job my case was dismissed without prejudice. I couldn't thank him enough for what he has done for me and my family.

Best lawyer

Best lawyer we could have retained

Mitchell Howie was the best lawyer we could have retained. Mr. Howie represented my elderly mother in resolving an overwelming financial problem. We had retained another attorney prior to coming to see Mr. Howie and were told that there was nothinng that could be done, but Mr. Howie proved that to be... wrong. He assisted us in getting a favorable resolution. We are very grateful for his commitment and expertise. We highly recommend Mr. Howie.
