Public reprimand means the attorney did something wrong but may still practice law. The Bar warns the lawyer in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior and places conditions on the lawyer's license.
Michael’s comment: “This Reprimand occurred over ten years ago and has been removed from my record with the Florida Bar.”

Brandon Woodward, Business Attorney on Jan 18, 2019
Relationship: Opposing Counsel on matter
Michael and I were on opposite sides of a business acquisition transaction, and I found him to be a consummate professional. He was diligent and thorough in his zealous representation of his client. The deal closed smoothly, and both of our clients left happy.
Jeff Gorman, Business Attorney on Jul 10, 2015
Relationship: Worked together on matter
I endorse this lawyer. I have known Michael for many years and he is respected by every lawyer that knows him. I was a prosecutor in St. Lucie County and first met Michael when he was defending a client against me in a very serious criminal matter. He was tenacious and very professional. I grew to respect his skills as a litigator and his skills as a trial attorney. Since going into private practice, Michael is one of the few attorneys that I recommend to clients. I have worked with him on several business clients as well as criminal clients. His command of the law and ability to quickly resolve cases is second to none. I recommend him highly.

Stuart Address, Litigation Attorney on Jul 10, 2015
Relationship: Fellow lawyer in community
I have worked with Mr. Spotts over the past 10 years in situations wherein he and I were co-counsel and in situations wherein he and I were adversary counsel. I believe Mr. Spotts to be an intelligent and thoughtful attorney in analyzing cases and seeking the best results for his clients; whether they be by way of litigation or alternative forms of resolution. Mr. Spotts can be quite aggressive (not a bad thing for a litigator), but is also capable of working with other counsel in a cooperative manner to seek the best result for all involved.
