  • PHENOMENAL ATTORNEY!!!

I'm truly not one for leaving any reviews but, I have to say, Mr. Sessums and his staff are INCREDIBLE!! Last year Myself and two young daughters were in a car accident and was the most horrific experience we've ever been in. Following this accident I had retained an attorney and it became clear that the dynamics of this case were going to be extremely complicated and at his discretion referred me to Mr. Sessums. From the first initial consultation I had with Mr. Sessums he had made me feel like there was a light at the end of this dark tunnel. His Paralegal Ms.Messenger was so pleasant and kept me updated every step of the way and left no grey areas for any questions especially, with her being so thorough. It was at our first initial hearing that I felt Mr. Sessums confidence and from that point I had No doubts that choosing him was the absolute best decision I had made.
Mr. Sessums spent several hours on this case as well as personal time after hours/weekends calls, & emails answering and explaining any/all of my questions, NEVER made me feel like a burden with the complexity of this specific case. I'm beyond thankful for all Mr.Sessums and his staff did. The above and beyond, the dedication in a whole was phenomenal. I wasn't expecting anything close to the settlement that was received, but with their help it was significantly much more than imagined. It is now myself and my young daughters can close this chapter in our lives, although it doesn't make it go away, it makes a peace within that Justice was served appropriately, not to mention representation that gave it their entire all. Again, Thank you Mr.Sessums and Staff for just being absolutely wonderful.

  • Auto Accident - Truly helped a senior citizen

Mark and his capable team represented me in an automobile accident. He obtained a very favorable settlement even though I have serious pre-existing medical issues. Once we had the favorable settlement, Medicare claimed more than they were entitled to receive. Mark battled Medicare through multiple appeals and finally Medicare agreed that they were not entitled to ANY portion of the settlement proceeds. Thanks Mark for all of your hard work on behalf of a senior citizen who truly NEEDED this money in a difficult economic time for senior citizens.

Many thanks to Mr. Sessums, Ms. Messenger, and other staff members for assistance in recovering a portion of the damages related to a recent accident. The firm is very knowledgeable and professional. They also do a very good job of keeping you updated as to the progress of the case. I greatly appreciated their efforts in regards to this matter..

I think Mr. Sessums is very knowledgeable but I was a little disappointed when It came down to him taking my case after he said he would then did not. I believe it was because it was personal to him as he knew who the case was against. I think his curiosity in regards to the case made him want to review the case and get the information on it and then decided not to take it. It was going to be taken on a contingent basis he wanted 50 percent and then some other amount. Nevertheless he decided not to take the case and then I had to go out and waste time which it was important in my case to get it filed. Also he did have an advantage knowing the judges in the county it was filed. I do think he is a good lawyer but I had to go back out into the dark once again to research who would do the best job for me. I would say also he is a bit expensive. I ended up spending thirty seven thousand plus and it took a pretty long time. Which was hurtful in my case having to take longer to file and the attorneys were out of town lawyers and did not really know what I knew in regards to how this person I was suing truly operated as Mr. Sessums did and probably could read between the lines more than the attorneys from out of town. I would have faired much better with Mr. Sessums but he stated he did not have the time to do it after he agreed to take it. He felt that I did not have enough proof but sadly enough I retrieved all the records he would need and would be an asset to the case in the following weeks and he knew how to dig deep as he was familiar with this person in many ways. I was disappointed but I will say he is a fine attorney along with being a very nice young man.

Mark Alexander Sessums’s response: “Unfortunately, this was a case where the potential client thought that a critical witness would testify in a certain fashion. After I had indicated I would take the case in reliance on this expected testimony, the witness changed their expected testimony. As a result, I could not take the case on a contingency fee and the potential client was unable to pay us by the hour to handle the case. I am pleased that she was ultimately apparently able to obtain a positive result. Please note that the fees she said she paid were not paid to us. I all cases, I wish the intended client the best if we are unable to help. I initially agreed to take the case as I believed in the case and believed the intended client had been wronged by a powerful person. The reason was not and never is that "I don't have the time." I was very clear the reason for the switch in fee payment and again wish her well. Thank you.”

Mark and his paralegal Amber did a great job for me in getting a divorce settled efficiently and fairly. They kept on track and kept things moving smoothly for me. My priorities were taken care of and I am very pleased.

Mr Sessums is incredible! I hired him after I let another attorney go. His office only had a week to prepare . They met me after hours, kept me informed, sent me questions that they were going to ask, did all the research and went to trial totally prepared. Me Sessums dealt with me himself, no replacements. His level of expertise was impressive. The entire office was very responsive and courteous . I felt like they really cared about the outcome, it was nice having an entire team on my side

Prior to hiring Mark, I asked many around me who they recommended. The name that kept coming up in the conversations was Mark Sessums. I would ask them, "Why Mark?" They told me that he was one of the best in the area. The funny thing is that a couple people that I asked referred Mark over their own divorce attorney they had used or were currently using.
It became clear to me on the day of mediation that I brought a gun to a knife battle. Mark came to the mediation prepared and knew the details of my case by memory. I recall the ex's attorney coming into the room to dispute a portion of the proposed settlement agreement and Mark clearly took charge of the conversation, stated case law, and disproved the other attorney's argument. It was clear to me by the end of the meeting that he was worth every cent.
If you are looking for the least expensive attorney in the area, go elsewhere. I have always believed that "you get what you pay for." I was willing to pay extra to get the best.

  • This is not a paid endorsement! It is the truth!

After reading these beyond-belief-reviews, I can only assume they were paid endorsements. This attorney has had my simple child custody modification for almost 2 years. We are no closer to resolution than when I walked into his office. He does not return phone calls. Pads his bills. Shows up late to hearings. Argues the wrong matters he schedules before the Judge. Judge and opposing counsel had to finally tell him he was arguing the wrong thing! (I was mortified!) Pretty much completely unprepared and arrogant. But has managed to bill me almost $10,000 for "work". Maybe if I was the Man fighting on custody issues he would have done his job. Reporting him to the bar will be in everyone's best interest. Terrible service by both him and his paralegal! Almost 4 months later I am still waiting on him to set a hearing on a vital Motion he filed with the court in April. But now I find out he is going to withdraw instead of finish the job. Good luck if you use him. You will need it AND A LOT OF MONEY!

Mark Alexander Sessums’s response: “This former client chose to post a misrepresentation of her case on many levels. I worked with her at a former firm. She knew my abilities when she hired my firm. She came to us and asked us to take her case as she had been held in contempt for failure to comply with a timesharing order. She knew our capabilities and that is why she retained my firm’s services for 2 years. She was scared and needed help. The falling out occurred when we asked her to make small payments that she could afford: $300 monthly. She declined to do so from April, 2014, to the present despite promising she would do so. We had not set the matter for trial as the existing timesharing order was favorable to her and it was not in her interest to have the matter tried as her timesharing goals were unrealistic and limiting timesharing was her ultimate goal. However, when she asked us to amend her petition without payment to more fully set out her claims we did so and agreed on a monthly payment schedule thereafter. She then reneged on paying. Our withdrawal followed. I quote her March 19 e-mail to my assistant “[I am not’ criticizing the work performed by you or Mark or the firm…I appreciate someone standing up for my 2 boys…” That was the last e-mail she ever sent our firm. We tried to help a former co-worker and are being unfairly criticized for our efforts.”
