In 2001, Joel began his legal career working at a regional, Miami-based law firm defending some of the largest companies in the country in personal injury, insurance and breach of contract matters.
Thereafter, Joel served as litigation and corporate counsel for a Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) broker-dealer, where his duties included representing the corporation and its subsidiaries in securities arbitration and litigation proceedings. Joel gained unique insight into the securities industry while serving in this role.
After serving as litigation and corporate counsel for a broker-dealer, Joel worked at a mid-sized, Tampa-based law firm for eight years where he represented many investors, agents, companies, and brokers in lawsuits and arbitration proceedings involving negligence, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud and negligent supervision. Joel also represented many individuals and companies, both individually and as a group, in lawsuits involving personal injuries, financial transactions and statutory violations.
In light of his diverse experience as a lawyer, Joel now handles a wide range of legal matters for both plaintiffs and defendants, but focuses his law practice on investment and business disputes. He also assists individuals and businesses in the Florida medical marijuana industry (www.flamedicalmarijuanalawyer.com).
Joel’s abilities as a lawyer have also been recognized. For the past several years (2010-2015), he has been selected by Florida Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in securities litigation. In 2013, Joel served as a board of director for the Safety Harbor Chamber of Commerce. He also spearheads the Safety Harbor Bar Association (www.safetyharborbar.com), which is an organization consisting of lawyers and friends who meet on the Third Thursday of every month at a local watering hole in town.
When he’s not working, Joel enjoys jogging, listening to music and attending concerts. Some of his favorite musicians include The Black Keys, Ben Harper, Citizen Cope, J.J. Grey & MoFro, Led Zeppelin, and The Rolling Stones. He is also an avid sports fan and closely follows the Pittsburgh Steelers, Tampa Bay Rays, and West Virginia Mountaineers.

Are you an attorney? Endorse this lawyer
I endorse this lawyer's work. I have had the pleasure of working with Joel since 2003, when we both joined Forizs & Dogali on the same day. Joel, two years my senior, has since consistently impressed me with his legal skill and analytical ability. His academic skills (graduated 2nd in his law schand legal experiences, I’m sure, are evident in his resume & biography. A resume, however, cannot adequately reveal the intangibles Joel possesses as an attorney and business owner. Hardworking, dedicated, ethical and focused all describe Joel. Even though he is less than a decade into his career, Joel’s skills as a litigator, analyst, and legal writer far outnumber his years. Tellingly, I have observed opposing counsel and fellow members of the Florida Bar (often with legal careers that span decades longer than Joel’s own career) consistently respect his arguments, seek his opinion and thoughts on legal theories, and admire his intellect and creativity.
