Before I retained Ted Rechel I watched him in a hearing. I knew then that he was astute on the law and more than willing to aggressively defend his clients. Years later I was involved in a terrible divorce. The case was resolved over a year ago. My ex-wife hired and fired attorney's and eventuall...y added her father to her legal team. Despite my ex-wife's infidelities she and her father turned our divorce into a money making venture on a grand scale. They retained experts (forensic accountants...etc.) in an effort to break my will and cave into their demands. The steps she took were unnecessary and painful for not only me, but also our children. Ted went to work the day I met him. He was great at helping me navigate the mine fields involved in the ugliest of situations. After my ex-wife's first deposition I expected her to resolve the case. The deposition exposed my ex in a number of very ugly ways. Despite what appeared to be an absolute zero contribution to our marriage on her part, she and her father continued to press forward at the expense of all involved. I want to point out that Mr. Rechel was never ugly to her or opposing counsel. He simply made sure the other side knew what they were about to get into. In order to summarize my wife wanted: 1) Permanent alimony $5,500/month (on a 10 year marriage) 2) Payment of a $4,000 mortgage on the former marital home for another 13 years 3) Attempted to force me to pay for private school through the courts claiming I had an ability to pay. 4) Pursued a claim for her attorney's fees to the tune of $155,000 The results were the following: 1) My x-wife received a lot less alimony per month for 4 years. 2) The marital home was sold and we split the profits. 3) My x-wife was forced to pay for private school. 4) My x-wife paid $140,000 of her own attorney's fees and I paid $15,000. Looking back I am extremely happy with the results Ted created. If my ex-wife would have received the things she was asking for it would have devastated me financially and ruined my life. My life is a lot different now because of Ted Rechel! Unfortunately, because my ex-wife has refused to be reasonable, issues involving my parenting plan continue to plague our children and me. I came to Mr. Rechel with an MSA that i had signed 4 years prior and was basically unfair, poorly written and just a mess. I had been told by other attorneys that I had very little chance of improving my situation, but Ted took on my case and was confident that he could improve my situation at least... to some degree. It took about 18 months but in the end I was able to settle in mediation with my ex-wife with an amended MSA that I could live with. It was apparent from the beginning the Ted knows his stuff when it comes to the law and the legal process. The whole process took longer than I expected but as I learned this type of legal wrangling is not an easy or fast process.
