Much of my time is devoted to my clients and their individual cases.  I strive to provide each client with personal and excellent representation, and to do that, sacrifices are made in my personal life.  To relax and in every moment I have not in the office of working on my clients' cases, I spend time with my family, whether at the beach, on the boat or simply relaxing at home.  I enjoy spending time with my family, excercising, playing tennis, traveling and reading books.

Excellent communication and outcome
Stephen's expertise and knowledge were evident from the initial consultation. He explained the process very clearly and set reasonable expectations from the outset. I am fortunate that I chose Stephen over the other defense lawyers I spoke with as Stephen worked tirelessly on my behalf throughout the entire ordeal. More than an attorney
In my 5 years in Tampa, I’ve needed legal help more than a couple times and every single time Stephen was there for me. He always fought for the best outcome for me, and he is both capable and experienced. In addition to strictly legal help, he was very encouraging to me personally, as somebody who truly cares about his clients in a way that goes beyond a purely transactional client/attorney relationship. When I initially brought my case to Mr. Higgins, I was a bit nervous about the charges against me. But Mr. Higgins ensured me that he would guide me through the process. Mr. Higgins was very patient with all of my questions (I ask a lot). He made sure that I was informed and up to date with details of my case throughout the trial process. He kept an open line of communication which is appreciated and hard to come by these days. The best around
Unfortunately in my life I’ve had to deal with many lawyers and in numerous different court rooms with different paid attorneys. Stephen is by far the best one I’ve dealt with around the board, he came to me with a resolution that I could not even imagine to be feasible. Impossible situation solved!
I had tried to do my own research and was coming up short on how to handle my problem (unknowingly driving a salvage-title vehicle without registration). I was using a chat feature to talk to a lawyer to get advice, which led to a call, which led to me hiring Higgins. He took care of everything, I didn’t even have to go to the hearings which was great since I work so many hours. My case was dismissed thanks to him even though I know my chances were pretty low with that happening. Highly recommend!!

One of the Best!
I have hired Stephen Higgins for 5 traffic cases in the past 2 years. The first for a DUI which was reduced to reckless. The next 3 were for speeding, two of which were 30 miles per hour over the limit. He had them dismissed. The other speeding ticket was 15 mph over, and he the fine reduced from $256 to $176 and no points. The 5th case was for a DUI in August of 2019. I blew zeros and didn't have any drugs in my system. Today I finally had my hearing which was postponed due to COVID-19 and I am really pleased that he got the charge reduced to a careless driving ticket with only a $166 fine. I would highly recommend him as one of the best attorneys in the area.

Speeding Ticket
I received a speeding ticket and Stephen was able to get the fine reduced AND keep the points off of my license, I never had to appear in court or do anything other than give him my ticket and let him work. He is a great lawyer and I would recommend him to anyone!

Excellent results
Mr. Higgins represented my son in a speeding ticket. My son never had to attend court, Mr. Higgins took care of everything. My son ended up with a small fine and no points on his license. You can't expect better results than that when it is an offence you did commit.

Excellent Lawyer and Results
I received a DUI while on vacation in FL. I contacted Stephen based on a referral from a lawyer in my home state. My case was complicated due to priors from a decade ago which caused our negotiating position with the state to be very, very far apart. My case continued to drag out for almost two years after a series of continuations from the state. Stephen reassured me to stay patient as he was continuing to work to resolve the case in my favor. He was very straightforward in explaining the pros and cons of going to trial and provided his personal recommendation based on the facts of my case, the judge and prosecutors involved and my past history. Late in the day on the eve of trial we agreed to a very positive settlement in my favor. I truly believe that with a less knowledgeable or less relentless lawyer that my outcome would have involved stiff penalties. I would highly recommend Stephen and his staff for others needing counsel. I should also point out that being out of state, I only had to appear one time which saved me a ton of money in travel.
