WE STRIVE TO MEET CLIENTS' NEEDS AND RESOLVE FAMILY DISPUTES PRIVATELY AND WITH DIGNITY.

Adam B. Cordover is a Collaborative Attorney, Collaborative Trainer, and Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Law Mediator who believes that family disputes should be resolved respectfully in private conference rooms, not in a hostile public courtroom environment. This unique perspective on approaching family law stems back to his experience studying International Affairs in Washington, D.C., and abroad. Adam had the rare opportunity to work closely with ambassadors and diplomats from war-torn regions around the world. He traveled the globe, learning from diplomatic leaders as they applied dispute resolution techniques to tackle seemingly impossible conflicts. It dawned on him: If these techniques can work in the complex world of International Relations, why not Domestic Relations and Family Law?

This realization led Adam to form Family Diplomacy, a Collaborative law firm dedicated to bringing a more peacemaking approach to family law. In his previous role as a litigation attorney, Adam witnessed his clients experience the negative emotional and financial effects that long, drawn out divorce battles can have on families. As a result, Adam has become a strong proponent of the Collaborative Process, where a structure is put in place so that life’s hardest moments do not have to be any more difficult than necessary.

Adam focuses on family and adoption law, including Collaborative Divorce, military divorce, adoption, including stepparent and LGBT adoption, paternity, child support and name change. A thought leader in the Tampa Bay and Greater Sarasota collaborative law community, Adam is a founder of Tampa Bay Collaborative Trainers and he trains attorneys, psychologists, licensed mental health counselors, accountants, and financial planners to become collaborative professionals.  He successfully spearheaded an effort of the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit to draft an administrative order safeguarding the principles of Collaborative Family Law (just the fourth such administrative order in Florida).

Adam has been featured in or interviewed about Collaborative Divorce by the Tampa Bay Times, Tampa Tribune, Orlando Sentinel, Miami Herald, Tampa Bay Business Journal, the Florida Bar News, Florida Trend Magazine, NBC 8, Fox 13, Bay News 9, ABC Action News, The World of Collaborative Practice Magazine, iHeart Media, Spirit FM 90.5, and Money Talk 1010 AM.  He regularly speaks at professional and civic organizations locally, nationally, and internationally regarding the Collaborative Process.   Adam encourages use of the Collaborative model in all types of family law matters including paternity, relocation, child support, prenuptial agreements, and even post-judgment actions.

Adam is a bestselling author, having penned one of the chapters in Champions of Collaborative Divorce, Changing the Way the World Gets Divorced (Volume I - Tampa Bay).  Adam is also co-editor of an upcoming American Bar Association book on Building A Successful Collaborative Family Law Practice.

Collaborative Divorce Success Story
I highly recommend Adam Cordover. I had not heard of a collaborative divorce before my therapist recommended I speak with Adam. When I first met with him, he was warm and shared excellent information. I never felt pressured to do anything. I was seeking a divorce after a LONG marriage. There were bumps in the road but with the assistance of Adam and the team he assisted us put together, my former spouse and I were able to conclude a collaborative divorce and remain friends. The team approach allowed my ex-husband and I to turn what could have been a disaster into a continued mutual friendship. From start to finish, approximately 6 months, Adam and Jennifer were there for me every step of the way.

Steered me through a difficult divorce
After my ex and I had agreed to move forward in the collaborative path for our divorce, I had interviewed a few lawyers and finally met with Adam. I have to admit that at our first meeting, I was a bit nervous. Adam looks like he could have just graduated from law school versus being an expert in this still relatively unknown process within family law. My largest concern was his ability to deal with my ex's controlling and unbelievably argumentative ways give Adam's very quiet demeanor. He assured me that he had been able to come to mediation with other divorces when the mental health of the other spouse was an issue. What convinced me to hire Adam was his passion and belief in the process of collaborative divorce as a way to protect my interests and still come to a peaceful conclusion. From the very beginning, Adam explained to me and kept me involved the entire process of how vetting of the members of the "divorce team" would happen. I felt so more confident about the process after meeting and observing how these team members were selected and worked together. I am so happy that I did not follow the litigation style of divorce. Although the entire divorce was difficult, with every collaborative team meeting, I felt empowered and more in control of my life and my own divorce. Adam was key in prepping me and following up on each divorce team meeting, well as being my personal rock. When our meetings or I became unproductive, he stepped away from the lawyer role and helped "reset" me so I could help myself. If you find yourself in need of a divorce lawyer, I could not recommend Adam enough. Trust in his quiet, observant command of detail. Trust in his long term strategy for how to best protect your interests. Trust in his understanding what a painful situation it is for ALL persons involved, not just his own client. Trust in the process, and trust in his ability to get you the new start in life you want.

Recommendation
Adam Cordover and Britney Penaherrera make working through a very difficult and time-consuming process much more manageable. I was particularly grateful for their ability to read non-verbal cues and encourage us to take breaks before a conversation became too overwhelming. They truly worked in both of our interests, were fair and patient, and led us to an amicable agreement.

Contact Adam if you're married and trying to get a name change
After my name change was approved without using a lawyer, I found out I needed to get it amended to include my birth name. The court order listed only my married name so I was unable to change my birth certificate. I started the amendment process on my own, but contacted Adam after I moved. He was able to change it to virtual court hearings. My amended name change was approved immediately once we had the court hearing with the judge. Ultimately, I wish I had contacted him sooner, before starting the name change. It is not as easy as it seems on your own. I would have saved on time, money, and stress.

Efficiency and good results
Excellent experience with attorney Adam and his paralegal. Objective with common sense, yet looking out for my best interests. I will say it was the greatest decision I've ever made. He's very courteous, nice, understanding, punctual and knowledgeable. He was very upfront with everything and how my case might go. And on top of all that, his services were reasonably priced. I have no complaints at all. Very appreciative of everything he helped me achieve. And I would recommend him to any and everyone in a divorce. Thanks Again, Highly recommend!!!

Experienced, Polite, and All-around Wonderful to Work With
I recently reached out to Family Diplomacy to represent me in my name change case. As a trans person, I also had some questions in getting all my legal documents updated as well. While I was had read up on the processes, I was still a little uncertain in going through the process by myself. My entire experience with Adam and Jennifer was pleasant. I cannot be more appreciative of all the efforts they put into representing me. Even before the retainer, they worked to answer all of my questions and responded with professionalism and courtesy. Their responses were always prompt and my case went through even quicker than I expected. My first attempt in finding an attorney before contacting Family Diplomacy was less than ideal. I was met with a blunt, distasteful response that showed the law firm did not have any interest in me or even reading my brief message. This was a stark contrast to how I was treated by Mr. Cordover and his paralegal Ms. Gunnin, and I could not have asked for a better relationship with my legal representation. Extremely happy with the the service and could not recommend Family Diplomacy enough to another person looking for a family lawyer.

Change of Name
After consulting with 2 different lawyers in the past I finally hit the jackpot with Adam Cordover. The process of contacting his office, scheduling an virtual appointment during the pandemic and professionalism was exactly what I was looking for. Mr. Cordover completed the process of changing my legal name in a matter of two months. I am extremely happy I found him and I recommend him for any legal service he can provide for you.

Outstanding attorney A+
I never thought that I would ever need an attorney for my divorce. I also thought that my divorce would naturally be smooth and mutually agreeable. During the process I realized I was very wrong about my understanding of the divorce and what I thought was going to happen. Adam and his wonderful staff helped me through the worst time of my life with grace. He changed my perception of what a truly great attorney should be like. I cannot thank them enough for doing an outstanding job. Their fees were very reasonable. And the outcome Adam was able to deliver turned out better than I was preparing myself for. Thank you Adam Cordover.

Great Experience
Adam was understanding, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and handled my matter quickly and effectively in a very professional manner. He and his team were able to answer all of my questions, explained everything very well, and made me feel very comfortable in an otherwise not-so-comfortable family matter. They were able to complete my matter without interruption due to the pandemic by the use of technology, which was much appreciated. I would highly recommend!

Extremely efficient attorney.
Adam was the first attorney I met to handle my divorce. After consulting several attorneys, I realized how trust worthy he was since he told me what would happen instead of what I wanted to hear. I am proud to recommend Adam, he is a terrific attorney and incredible person that handle my divorce in a timely and expedite manner and achieved the desired outcome.
