Helped a Father gain majority time sharing with Daughter

A few years ago today, my child's mother threatened to abandon state with our toddler. I filed the necessary paperwork in the courthouse pro se. Eventually, she did leave the state with child without my permission. I hired a local attorney who represented me during several meditations to reestablish ...my relationship with daughter. The mother eventually decided to not mediate further and my attorney was a bit sluggish to react. I decided to fire her and consult with other attorneys. Mr. Hackworth was 1 out of 4 local attorneys. Each attorney offered trial representation at an expensive rate. Some attorneys did not speak with me and requested consultation fees. Mr. Hackworth contacted me and offered pre-trial and trial representation at a very affordable rate. To be honest, the low rate caused skepticism and hesitation at first. After further online research, I could not find anything negative. I am glad I decided to hire attorney Hackworth. He is personable, he does not make you feel rushed, he conducts business using his own cell phone which is extraordinary and that is not all, Mr. Hackworth assisted me in winning majority custody of my daughter. As a father, most people doubted the possibility of this outcome for the last two years of my life. Attorney Hackworth made this possible. Do not hesitate to hire him, he is affordable, caring and very knowledgeable.

ASTOUNDING ATTORNEY

I had filed an injunction on behalf of my minor son against his father, which had been granted permanent, but the father filed a motion to have it dismissed so I hired Jon Hackworth. If Jon did not know the answer to something he immediately went to the books to find the answer, he was always availab...le and immediately responded to calls and emails. He was extremely thorough, meticulous and well prepared for the hearing. Jon was very in-tune with my case and presented every important aspect of the abuse over the years with the safety of my son being paramount. His closing, while very emotional for me, was everything that needed to be addressed put into legal verbiage, it blew me away how well he represented me and my son. I am forever grateful to Jon Hackworth for being a voice for my son and fighting to protect him. After three years of legal battle with the father I am sure it is far from over, I will most definitely retain Mr. Hackworth’s legal service for future proceedings and I highly recommend him to others.

Unauthorized Representation, Breach of Confidentiality, and Ethical Misconduct

My experience with Jonathan Hackworth was unethical and damaging. After the court appointed him as my attorney, I immediately emailed him rejecting his representation and explicitly instructed him not to act on my behalf. Despite this, he filed a Notice of Appearance and a General Denial to all curre...nt and future allegations without my consent, against my clear instructions. His unauthorized filing seriously compromised my case. I had to send multiple emails, make several phone calls, and submit an ADA accommodation request just to get him to withdraw—something he initially resisted. Even after his formal withdrawal, Hackworth continued to receive eight unauthorized court orders, including confidential health information, and took no action to stop these breaches, despite being directly notified. He never consulted me, never obtained my consent, and disregarded my rights. The misconduct he tried to deny on my behalf is still actively being pursued and has already resulted in the disqualification of a judge and a magistrate. I strongly caution anyone considering his services. In my opinion, Hackworth’s conduct showed a serious lack of professionalism, disregard for client autonomy, and failure to protect confidential information. His behavior will continue to be fully documented and reported. Proceed with caution, especially if you are in dependency court. He interests lies with the court who appoints him, not that of the client or the child.

REALLY PUTS THE "HACK" IN HACKWORTH

By far the worst lawyer I have ever worked with. Motions had basic facts of the case completely wrong, poor grammar and typos, and bizarrely refused to submit crucial evidence. It actually felt like he was paid off by the opposition. Strongest possible recommendation to avoid. Will definitely be repo...rting him to the bar and pursuing civil actions for a full refund. Jon Hackworth didn't just waste my money, he actively worked against me every step of the way If you're looking for a family law attorney and need a real fighter in your corner, do NOT hire this man. He won't listen to you, he'll do his own thing, and you will lose. And he won't even blink. Genuinely shocked this disgraceful amateur still has a license to practice.

AWFUL FAMILY LAW LAWYER, IGNORANT TO FLORIDA LAW

It is apparent in my case that this fella is scared to go to bat for you. He is way too sensitive and shies away from being firm and purposeful when the opposition makes obvious missteps. In my litigation, he thinks of himself instead of working for me. It has been made clear to me that he is not ...very familiar with Family Law here in Florida, and possibly anywhere because he refuses to pursue gross violations of said laws. It's quite the contradiction because he thinks he knows everything which is evidenced by him not wanting to listen to anything I have to say. Perhaps he is better at DUI's, DWI's, and traffic law, I wouldn't know. All that I know is that for me, it was a HUGE mistake to hire this lawyer and the cost was twofold: overpriced fees and the biggest cost, a lost case. My advice, keep looking.
