I am a Chief Warrant Officer in the Marine Corps and stationed on Okinawa. The path I took to Bilecki and Tipon was shattering and terrifying. A mother's worst nightmare is when she receives a phone call with bad news about her child. Needless to say, that phone call advised me that my son was awaiting sentencing - and only three days later. Time was no longer an ally and I had to act fast.
