Mindi Lasley was highly recommended to me and she more than fulfilled all my expectations. I was helping a young friend with her case against the man with whom she has a child. Mindi was extremely patient. She went above and beyond again and again - even advising us long after the case was closed... when she had no obligation to do so. She was professional, well prepared and obtained things in the settlement that we didn’t even ask for, things we did not know to ask for. Those things involved provisions that protect my friend and her child. I can see why she was so highly recommended. If you need someone in your corner who works hard, knows the law and is not afraid to fight for you I highly recommend Mindi Lasley.

Mindi, Yanna and Gloria were the answer to my prayers. Divorce is already a frustrating and painful process, and having to deal with lawyers who don’t return calls or emails or just don’t care, can make it worse. My divorce lasted 2.5 years and Mindi was the 3rd lawyer on my case. When I wasn’t gett...ing anywhere with my first two lawyers and they kept billing me, I wished that I had a lawyer in my family or a close friend who could represent me sincerely and wholeheartedly. When Mindi,Yanna and Gloria took on my case , it felt just like that. They are able to understand a clients pain involved and work above and beyond to make sure their client gets justice. Mindi and team were able to get me child support from my ex-husband before even going to trial, which I wasn’t able to do with my previous two lawyers. My case went to trial and focused mainly on my sons (3.5yr) out of country travel to a non Hague convention country, and timesharing. Mindi was extremely prepared for trial and got me well prepared as to what to expect also. She researched several case laws of children who were taken to that specific country and not returned, and the negative impacts it had on the children. Both the judge and even opposing council commented on the amount of time and effort she must have put in to research the case laws. Also, because of her keen attention to detail, she was able to catch my ex-husband in a lie he said during depositions that took place 3 months before trial. My husband was asked to read from his deposition transcript, his own lie aloud in court, which even embarrassed me. During depositions, if she had overlooked, ignored, or failed to research those few sentences that my ex-husband uttered about his immigration, I would have had to let my son go to Hague convention countries at the very least, and fear him not returning bc my ex is not a US Citizen. Because of Mindi’s ability to pinpoint this and all her case law research and her absolutely amazing closing argument in trial, the judge ruled for my son to not even leave the country!! She also got me the timesharing that I desired. There were a few times during the process leading up to trial where opposing council tried to threaten and manipulate her from proceeding to trial altogether, but she was not intimidated at all. She stayed cool and composed and maintained her professionalism while responding back. Some other points about Mindi, Yanna and Gloria: they are organized, they always keep you updated on whats going on in the case, they send you copies of everything, they will return calls and emails within 24 hours, they always give their honest input but ultimately lets the client decide, always listens to everything you have to say, never interrupts or cuts you off when speaking, makes you feel that you’re their only client, makes time for you, prepares you for the worst, sincerely cares and is very reasonably priced. Lastly, I walked away from this experience not only as a satisfied client, but also a better person by just dealing with them. I see how their hard work positively impacted my life by saving me from a potentially disastrous future for me and my family. I work harder in my own line of work hoping that I can be a blessing in someone else’s life just like Mindi and team have been in mine. Thank you Mindi, Yanna and Gloria!!!

In July 2015, I was served a supplemental petition to modify final judgement by my ex-wife. This marked the third time she had served me since 2010. As one would expect, I have become pretty familiar with the family court system, so I had a good idea of the type of lawyer I wanted to retain. After... my consultation with Mindi, I was confident her goal was to serve my best interest. Mindi immediately started gathering facts and information and used this data to turn the tables with a counter petition of Affirmative Defense: Unclean Hands. This really stirred up my ex and her attorney. They began dragging their feet and sent a ridiculous number of emails to Mindi containing no real substance. Mindi did a fantastic job at handling these emails and calls without burning through my retainer. Additionally, one emailed response from Mindi to opposing counsel sealed the deal. Her response to accusations made against me were so cleverly crafted and precise that my ex-wife literally begged me to drop the case. That’s right, my ex-wife tried to modify the final judgement and then begged me to not “take the children away” from her. After some discussion with Mindi and my ex, we decided to settle out of court. Mindi and I were both confident we would win the case, but she was empathetic to my thoughts and I didn’t feel any pressure from her to continue the case. It’s also worth noting Mindi’s paralegal, Yanna, was fantastic as well. I had many conversations with Yanna and always felt that she was looking out for my best interest. If I ever need a family lawyer again I would hire Mindi without a second thought, however, I don’t think I will because my ex-wife knows this as well.

I found Mindi on this site, and believe I would be doing other AVVO users an injustice if I were to not recount my experience with this attorney. My experience with Mindi started around AUG of 2013. My divorce would not be finalized until APR of 2014. In my opinion; she continually pushed to tak...e the case to trial, was poorly prepared during the mediation, did a poor job of preparing me for what to expect throughout the process, and misrepresented the costs I would incur. During mediation, I felt like she hadn't taken any time to familiarize herself with the case. I was prepared to pay alimony and child-support. However, when the opposing party presented their "offer" in mediation they were so far from what Mindi had said I would be paying, that it was simply infuriating. I ended up agreeing to a lesser amount. After 6 hours of sitting in a closed room with Mindi, where I never felt like she was the least bit prepared, or doing anything more than pushing to take the case to trial, I was over the mediation. We had come to terms on everything. I asked the mediator (whom Mindi had selected), "Is there anything I need to sign before leaving?" She said no. I asked Mindi, "Is there anything I need to sign before leaving?" She also said no. I had the mediator run my credit card and I left. Months later, Mindi was continuing to bill me for a variety of matters, even though everything should have been finalized that day in mediation. She did send threatening emails saying that she wasn't going to take any more action until the retainer was replenished. At one point, when I was refusing to pay her more, she called me and assured me verbally that this would be the LAST time I would be asked for another retainer. She did not honor what she said and a few weeks later she was billing me again. When I confronted her about the bill, and reminded her what she told me on the phone, she told me the reason the case was dragging on was because I left the mediation too early. I left the mediation when she said I could leave, and when her hand selected mediator told me I could leave. Mindi blaming me for the case dragging out was unprofessional, dishonest, a mis-representation of the facts, and the bills that were generated post mediation -- in my opinion -- where unfair. When the divorce was finally being signed off on, the opposing counsel found some loopholes in Mindi's paperwork and encouraged my ex-wife to fight for more money. The county in which we had the case is firm believer (and has a track record to show) that both parents having an equal time share is in the best interest of the children. Mindi never mentioned this, all the while knowing that a fair time share was the most important thing to me. I thought that I wouldn't get more than every other weekend. My research afterwards, and the experiences of friends going through similar matters, indicated that I didn't get nearly as many overnights with my children as I deserved, or was entitled to. There are more discrepancies that I would share, but one of the most important messages I can relay is this; I am in a situation now where my ex-wife is wanting to move the children out of state. Obviously, this will require legal representation. I will not be working with Mindi on this, or any other future legal needs.
