Protecting Assets for Your Spouse whose is Ill.

Case Conclusion Date: 01.23.2012

Practice Area: Elder law

Outcome: Asset protection accomplished

Description: My client was a wife who was very concerned about her husband's need for care if she died first. She recently got very sick, with her death imminent within days. We quickly prepared a new estate plan which would protect all of her and her husband's assets. Now that she has passed, the assets are protected so that her husband's care costs, in a nursing home or assisted living residence, can be defrayed by government financial assistance, while the protected assets are dedicated to enhance his quality of care.
