LEADING REAL ESTATE AND FORECLOSURE DEFENSE ATTORNEY, AND RECOGNIZED LEGAL EXPERT.

Roy Oppenheim has been practicing law since 1987 focusing his practice on all phases of real estate and real estate development and redevelopment from land acquisition to multifamily, retail, office hotel, industrial and mixed-use development, as well as single family home development for sale and rent. Mr. Oppenheim’s clients turn to him for his sharp legal acumen along with his entrepreneurial background that allows Mr. Oppenheim to approach each matter from a pragmatic and refreshing background. Further, clients enjoy Mr. Oppenheim’s infectious passion for his involvement in their business as well as his unbiased legal opinion based on a holistic approach, rather than from a siloed perspective. From analyzing, negotiating to structuring deals, Mr. Oppenheim’s clients turn to him time and again for his advice. Mr. Oppenheim also represents Florida real estate brokers and Realtors, individual buyers, and sellers in connection with the purchase and sale of Florida real property as well as litigates real estate disputes involving both residential and commercial properties. The myriad of businesses Mr. Oppenheim represents is vast including from the fields of retail, hospitality, entertainment, healthcare, technology, import-export, and wholesale. Many of these businesses have both a physical and/ or online presence. Mr. Oppenheim here again brings his over three decades of legal knowledge and business experience to his clients and their respective businesses.

After Working for Milbank Tweed on Wall Street and White & Case in Miami, Mr. Oppenheim founded Oppenheim Law in 1989 with his wife Ellen Pilelsky where they began representing Arvida Development in the early 1990’s and its various home builders amongst numerous national banks such as Northern Trust, Chase Bank and SunTrust Bank. Over the years the firm has been involved, along with its sister company Weston Title & Escrow, with numerous prominent and highly claimed developments including Windmill Reserve, Landmark Ranch Estates, Botanica, Metropica, and Neovita Doral, among many others.

Serving national, international, and local clients, Mr. Oppenheim has the highest rating (A-V) conferred by Martindale Hubbell Law Directory, the most respected directory of lawyers and law firms in the U.S. He has also been selected as a “Best Real Estate Lawyer in the United States” since 2012, a designation of only 5% of all Lawyers. The Firm also has a 10.0 rating, the highest rating from AVVO another distinguished national rating service.

In 1989, Mr. Oppenheim also co-founded and served as general counsel to ShopSmart Corp., the company that originated and owned the GNC Gold Card Program, a program that continues to this day and was one of the first cross-promotional programs of its kind.

In addition, in 1994, Roy co-founded Weston Title & Escrow, the oldest title company in Weston, Florida that serves all of Florida and has closed in excess of three billion dollars in transactions. Mr. Oppenheim currently serves as its Senior Vice President. In 1999, Mr. Oppenheim also served a one-year term on the board of directors for Catalina Lighting, a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange.

Mr. Oppenheim is also designated by the Florida Secretary of State as an International Civil Law Notary, one of only 137 out of 106,000 attorneys in the State.

In 2008, during the foreclosure crisis and the Great Recession, Mr. Oppenheim and his team of lawyers represented 1000’s of homeowners that were unable to pay their mortgages and were facing foreclosures. Facing daunting odds and the rath of large foreclosure mills funded by the big banks Mr. Oppenheim helped establish a new legal practice area of foreclosure defense while helping these homeowners defend themselves against the banks.

During that time Mr. Oppenheim became an outspoken critic of the banks and started the which was voted the best business and technology blog by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. The blog was syndicated to Yahoo! Homes, and Newsweek. Mr. Oppenheim routinely appeared on HuffPost Live, FOX News, and Lifetime TV and on WLRN Radio. In addition, he has been quoted in prominent national publications, including USA Today, The New York Times and Huffington Post, among others.

Mr. Oppenheim has also co-authored and two law review articles, Deconstructing The Black Magic of Securitized Trusts, published in the Stetson University Law Review’s Spring 2012 Edition, and The Emperor’s New Clothes, published in the William & Mary Business Law Review Volume 6. Both addresses systemic legal problems with the residential foreclosure process at the time.

Mr. Oppenheim grew up in the Bronx where he learned “street smarts”, and became focused driven, working hard to always persevere and to never rely on his laurels.

I endorse Roy and I Never Write Reviews!!!
Roy handled my issue regarding a real estate appraisal issue with superior skill. Roy recovered all fees associated with my issue from the legal firm pressuring me to change my appraisal. Roy knows the law and how to apply it to his clients benefit. Before settling down with Roy I interviewed several attorneys. I am the type of person that never ever writes a review but I felt this was long overdue I highly recommend and endorse Roy at oppenheim law.

Knowledgable Kind and courteous
Excellent attorney, highly recommend. If you need someone to be a tough advocate for you that has a thorough knowledge of the law look no further! I was really stressed about my situation but one thing I'm grateful for is that they took care of me every step of the way. I am glad they're very patient because I must admit I must have annoyed them by flooding them with emails and calling sometimes too often LOL. In the end they were patient with me kind and courteous. I would recommend Roy and oppenheim law to anyone that needs help with foreclosures.

Quality attorney
I used Roy a while back must have been a few years ago and I'm writing now to recommend him. Roy his wife and the staff at oppenheim law always go above and beyond for the best experience I've ever had with an attorney. I utilized their services for a real estate matter and I'm glad that they were on my side. I will be honest I met with several other attorneys before settling down with Roy for my final decision. It was the best decision of my life and I sleep better at night because of it. I highly recommend Roy and anyone reading this I would highly recommend meeting him before you decide to go to any other attorney trust me because you will see exactly what I mean when you meet Roy his wife and his staff thanks again Roy.

Roy Is An Attorney you want on your side !
Here is why I appreciate Roy. I must have called 50 attorneys before hiring Roy. He was the only one that asked several relevant questions before I hired him. Bad thing about South Florida is almost all lawyers brag how they are the best. Most attorneys here are like the doctors selling snake oils as health supplements. Not Roy though!!! After Googling Roy I seen him on the news and on Video. Roy was very methodical & meticulous and I knew exactly what he was doing each step of the way. Roy was able to litigate and win my case without going to court. Roy from Oppenheim Law will not cheat or deceive you, in my opinion he is the best even though Roy does not brag. Thanks again to Roy and his staff at Oppenheim Law.

Real estate transaction
I am writing in support of Roy oppenheim. I have used Oppenheim law for many many years to handle my real estate transactions. The Law Firm is always quick, precise and any title transfers or title insurance that I need can be taken care of immediately. What makes them perfect is they also own Weston title which is a title company and because they are attorneys they can easily expedite all my needs therefore I fully and highly recommend Roy Oppenheim. There are very few title companies that are attorney owned and operated and I recommend anyone use a title company that is attorney owned and operated. Not only do they know the laws but they can point you in the right direction like Roy Oppenheim always does thanks again Roy.

Upfront and Honest!!!
Roy Oppenheim is the most honest and helpful attorney I know! I found him online in the news and read nothing but positivity. He took time out of his busy schedule on more than one occasion to return my calls and answer my emails in a timely manner. He told me upfront about being able to take my case instead of taking my money and not helping! Very reliable also, if he says he will call you back he will do so! In the end he checked up on me to see if everything went well! I will most definitely refer him to anyone!

excellent lawyer
I recently purchased a condo with help of Roy. He is a excellent lawyer for real estate closing. He saved me more than $500.00 closing cost, instead of going to seller office for closing, he did all the closing work at his office by himself. Furthermore, he would answer all questions regarding closing. I am very pleased with his work.

The best Fort Lauderdale Real Estate Attorney
In my honest opinion Roy Oppenheim is the best Fort Lauderdale Real Estate Attorney I have met in a long time. I have dealt with many attorneys and I read a review by his peer that said "He is a highly skilled attorney that is well respected in the legal community." I can say I agree with that statement, a respectable man with a respectable firm. His wife Ellen Pilelsky is a very sharp woman. The employees of this firm I have met thus far have gone above and beyond my initial expectations. Thanks again!

Excellent experience with Roy Oppenheim
When we first contacted Roy Oppenheim what struck me was not only his knowledge but his open and honest approach to our discussion. There was no pressure into decision making just good sound advice and all our options out on the table. The best thing we ever did was to hire Roy and have him and his firm represent us in our real estate matter. This was a true gentleman who did what he said he would every step of the way. My advice to anyone attempting to deal with any issues that concern the banks is to hire a credible, successful and responsible lawyer like Roy Oppenheim. Our outcome and every step was exactly as he state it would be. It was a true pleasure to deal with Roy and his firm. He gave us our lives back!
