Mr. Medalie was hired to assist my elderly, mother in handling an insurance claim for fire damage in her condominium. She had dementia and realized she could not handle it herself. He charged a lot of money. When the contractor finished, Mr. Medalie advised her to pay him in full. She did. I do not believe Mr. Medalie ever inspected the work. I know for a fact that he never checked to see if a permit had been issued or if the city had inspected the work. There was no permit; there was no inspection. Mr. Medalie sent emails for a year, asking the attorney of the contractor to have him get a permit and have the work inspected. Nothing was done except for the issuance of bills for legal services. After I became knowledgeable of the situation, I contacted the city, got the permit issued, found a legitimate contractor, and had the work inspected and approved so that the apartment could be sold. By then my mother was dead. By the time I finished handling my mother's estate, I did not have the fortitude to file a complaint with the bar association. I apologize for that.
