For over a year I had been seeking a competent lawyer for advice concerning my student loan situation, so I was pleased to finally find the Van Horn Law Group specializing in bankruptcy and student loan resolution. During my first appointment I had a brief meeting with the boss, Chad Van Horn, discus...sed my goals and decided to retain the firm’s services. After providing some documents and other information I spoke with Tanisha Reid, a very patient and professional paralegal, who submitted an application for loan consolidation with an income-based repayment plan, and hooked me up with a different loan servicing company. She also explained some of the legal aspects of the student loan racket in more detail. Bottom line: my fee bought me 18 months without a crushing monthly payment, and more importantly, I am better informed going forward, provided with a realistic plan, and relieved of a great deal of stress and anxiety. That’s worth a lot.

After a brief pre-qualification phone call with Chad Van Horn I was turned over to Tanisha Samuda who would be working my case. It involved student loans in default, garnishments, etc. Tanisha got all loans consolidated, out of default, and a very low monthly payment based on an income-based repay...ment program. At all times she was attentive, responded to emails when asked questions, and kept on top of this consolidation throughout the process. All in all, a definite 5-Star experience

My "free" consultation was with Chad. Chad felt filing chapter 7 was the best option for me. He indicated I should continue to mlae payments on my SUV and since I also owned a home in order to keep my vehicle I may need to pay an additional $1-2K, which the Trustee would determine. Chad stated the p...ayments would be broken up over a 2 year period. A month later Weinstein's assistant Milagros drops the truth, $6k and I need to pay it within 2 weeks. I am not sure how many people file for bankruptcy if they have access to 6K but I certainly did not. And because of the advice given by Chad I had just made the monthly payment for the vehicle I could not keep/ This was just the beginning of the problems with the firm. Immediately after my consultation and the contract signed, I no longer heard from Chad, I became the sole client of Milagros ( I think she is a PA) and Stephen Weinstein. I would never recommend this firm to anyone, Neither Milagros nor Mr. Weinstein provided responses to my countless, calls or emails. After making repeated attempts to contact them and NOT getting a response- countless times or countless issues I would eventually resort to contacting Artillis. Frankly he is the only efficient employee of this firm. I HIGHLY SUGGEST LOOKING ELSEWHERE.
