I utilized Mr. Benjamin for both my divorce and paternity cases. Though the divorce took longer than preferred, Mr. Benjamin was extremely professional and helpful. He answered all of my questions in a timely manner and helped guide me in the right direction.

Mr. Benjamin truly came to my rescue today - I was very nervous about my eviction of a tenant. I spoke to him several times by phone and he guided me through the legal procedures and when I asked him to represent me (at the last minute - day before Court) he graciously accepted and handled my hearing magnificently and obtained a win for me. I would recommend him to anyone he wants a polished and cool under fire counsel.

My case was one of the most complicated , hairy and nasty divorces you would ever seen. Long story short Christopher and his team helped me win my case and fought for me until we I got my rights as a father; thanks to this I'm able to be part of my little one life and see him grow. I'm very happy I would definitely recommend him to anybody that is going through a tough legal situation.

I hired Christopher, since he was recommended by a friend, to handle my divorce case. For the year and 2 months in which he handled my case, he showed up late to court and mediation, and in one case, he was so late that the judge was not able to hear our arguments because we ran out of time. Communications from Christopher were non existent unless certified letters or multiple emails were sent requesting status updates on my case. Throughout the time that he represented me, I provided the same documents numerous times as they could not locate the originals that were submitted. I would not recommend Christopher to anyone.

Christopher Emmanuel Benjamin’s response: “First and foremost I must point out that this review is from a client that I represented more than two (2) years ago and the firm continued to represent through our Of Counsel, Yvette Harrell, Esq. (for an additional year). I don't want the consumer to be mislead with the date of the posting. The post is false and comes from a client who was highly litigious in her approach to her case despite several warnings from counsel. Secondly, this client was represented by two attorneys from this (my) firm. I was late to one hearing due to traffic accident; moreover, my communication was great and as frequent as necessary. The client was overly anxious despite several attempts to reassure her of the status and strategy of her case. Due to my schedule at the time and the demanding nature of the client for time; I thought it would best serve her by reassigning her to another attorney within the firm. The new assigned counsel continued with the case until its conclusion (a year later). The client only ever complained once regarding communication with a paralegal and the issue was immediately resolved. The client is upset with the amount of fees she ultimately paid in her two and half year divorce; even though she was advised several times to rethink her litigious approach to the issues in her cause. This review is not indicative of the service provided by counsel or the Firm as it existed then or now.”

Mr. Benjamin won me custody of my daughter, was with me every step of the way. Before my custody case, he also took care of an insane child support issue I was having. I would recommend him for any legal needs

  • Terrible Attorney!

I would not have bothered posting this if I did not think it worth while to warn others. My Benjamin was the worst attorney I could have ever imagined to have through my divorce. He was inexpensive compared to other attorneys and I assumed by reading his reviews and checking his website that he would be good for me. Boy was I wrong! I practically had to do everything! I filled out most of my paper work myself. I was told the night before i appeared before the judge that he was not going to be present and I would "have to be prepped to go before the Judge," he ended up being there via telephone conference. We got notices twice throughout my case that we were not being compliant and replying back to the opposing party in a timely manner. I had to call constantly to get status on my case. My divorce process took 2 years to complete. I feel that the child support that was awarded to me was unfair and when i asked Mr. Benjamin to fight for me he sat back and did nothing. I who make a little less than my ex husband now ended up owing him $5 in child support a month for him to have the kids every other weekend. I asked Mr. Benjamin on several occasions to request updated paystubs form the opposing party in which he failed to do. I ended up closing out my divorce with a paystub that was a year and half old only to find out he was making much more than he and his counsel reported. I feel like Mr. Benjamin did nothing for me but wasted my money and time. I am now in search of an Attorney that might be able to help me with what I feel Mr. Benjamin failed to do for myself and my family. Don't bother trust me stay away from this guy!

Christopher Emmanuel Benjamin’s response: “These comments are uncharacteristic of our practice and I fear simply in retaliation for a result that the client agreed to and now has regret - as most know, lawyers don't guarantee the outcome of any case. Let's take a look at the first allegation; the $5.00 per month child support for one child where the father is only getting the child every other weekend ... such a result is impossible under our child support guidelines even if the parent with the majority timeshare makes substantially more than the parent with less timesharing. The only time that you would see such a scenario is if both parents have substantial timesharing and one parent makes substantially more than the other. Secondly, if you are paying substantially less attorney fees than normal it is because you are doing some of the work that would have normally been done and charged by counsel - this is a common practice to have clients take on more responsibility in their representation in order to keep down the cost of representation (however, guidance is always provided by counsel). We do this (case by case) in order to make representation affordable for those who couldn't afford traditional fees. Not only are hourly rates reduced but the client takes on some of the less technical work to also reduce the amount of time that counsel actually works on the case - thereby the client receives the benefit of less chargeable fee hours. Lastly, 90% of divorces from middle or lower income clients end in mediation/settlement and this case was no different; therefore in mediation, this client agreed to the terms of the settlement ($500.00 in monthly child support) and the cause was not resolved in a trial before a family judge. If the client was truly not happy with the terms proposed in mediation, she could have gone forward to trial where all the evidence would have been presented (including an update of the husband's financial information) and a judge would have made a ruling regarding the income of both parties and the resulting child support calculation - instead the client decided that she no longer wished to continue with litigating the cause and accepted the terms of the agreement offered in mediation. She obviously now has some regret but even the amount that she agreed to in mediation was based on the calculated guidelines which was based upon the parties income as known at the time of mediation and with the knowledge that there was some doubt (by client) as to whether the husband's income was correct or current but the client (not counsel) decided to stop fighting and end the case. It is unfortunate that this client now has second thoughts about the resolution to which she agreed; however, this review is not indicative of the work performed by this firm or this attorney.”

I hired Mr Benjamin for a family matter, child support and custody. Mr Benjamn was very knowledgable and compassionate about my case as well as the lack of legal assistance in the community at large. He has truly been an asset to my family and other misfortunate families by providing pro bono work, extended counseling as well as payment plans that we most often need when paying legal fees..He is an advocate for family and the well being of children. He is truthful even when you don't want to hear it, but it was always what was best for the child. He is a community advocate attorney with a wealth of knowledge that serves the people of our commnunity and at large.
