Look elsewhere

Keep looking, you can get much better representation and not have to risk a terrible outcome like ours. Juan 'handled' my wife's traffic citation. Juan's communication was terrible. I had to call multiple times to set up the arrangement, which I didn't mind. when the court date was only a few days aw...ay and I had not heard anything, I called him back to which he acknowledged the date and blamed the court for changing it. He would have just not appeared had I not done this, I figured he would have notified the court once he took the case. The date was then moved by Juan, but he didn't notify us. Then, Juan pleaded no contest and got us heavy court costs on top of the full citation amount and mandatory driving courses. Why did I even have an attorney? The real kicker here is that he didn't even call us to inform us, four days after the hearing we went onto the court website and learned this, then I CALLED HIM. I'd give 0 stars here if I could, completely terrible experience. I had a bad feeling when I first called, I wish I had acted on it and gone somewhere else. I hope you do so.

Thank you for the feedback. The circumstances of this case were such that getting a withhold of adjudication in this matter as I did (a withhold of adjudication means the driver received no points) was far better than I expected given the sentencing tendencies of the judges in this county for drivers going in excess of 100 mph. The citing officer had all of his paperwork in order for the hearing, completed the required pre and post shift check, had all necessary certifications and calibrations and an independent recollection of the events. Given all of this, there was no path to getting the case dismissed. I requested that the officer recommend to the court that no points be given for the offense in exchange for a no contest plea. The court was hesitant to do so given the high rate of speed and previous traffic history, but ultimately was willing to keep the points off the license but ordered the driver to traffic school and ordered a $400 fine (the maximum fine could have been up to $500). I wish that there was more that could have been done, of course. It's always easier to give someone great news as opposed to less than great news. It's true that this is going to cost you a little bit of money and a little bit of time, but it could have also cost you some points on your license and so what I could do, I did.
