At one of the scariest times of my life, I found there was a light at the end of the tunnel. I was arrested for DUI in 2014 and I didn't really know what to do. I've never really ever had any serious legal issues, so I didn't fully understand the process. Recently, I found myself in need of legal advice so I hired Richard Mercure. He fought my case tooth and nail even though it was in Hillsborough County. One Thursday in 2014, I made a horrible mistake and drove drunk in Gainesville, FL. By Monday, after reviewing about 6 different lawyers, I had set up a consultation with Rick to discuss my options. Rick was very professional but still relatable-- young, UF alum, not judgmental in the slightest. While the legal system is slower than molasses, Rick made sure that my case was a priority and that it progressed as quickly as possible. I'm happy to say after a mini depression, he was able to show me the light and get me the best possible results! I was able to graduate with 7 job offers (which I did not think would be possible after being background checked) and am able to successfully relocate states to work for a prestigious employer. Rick negotiated a reasonable sentence for my second DUI. I was nervous until I left my public defender and paid for real legal counsel. I managed to keep my full-time job while he made court appearances for me and he got most of my fines dissolved. Thank God I was referred to him. It's really worth every penny.

While incarcerated and being held without bond, I was awoken at 11:30 pm! by a Corrections Officer (CO) being told my attorney was here to see me. While being escorted to my meeting with Rick, the CO told me he had never seen an attorney visit at this late hour. Two days later, I was once again awoken by a CO, this time at 2 am!! Saying my Attorney was here. Upon seeing Rick he immediately produced evidence on my behalf, which after being presented to the court allowed me to be released on my own recognizance without bond, until a future trial date. I can say without hesitation, Rick works for his clients vigorously and meticulously, no matter the hours he must put in, no matter his case load and obviously in my view placing his clients’ interests above his own with the timing of his visits with me while I was incarcerated. Rick came through again!!!! Without him, my husband would have had to face severe consequences for a VOP charge. He pretty much held my hand and guided me through the whole process.
