If you are facing criminal charges, do not rely on a public defender. The prosecutors are nasty narcissists that do not care about probable cause or what the law says. They just want to beat you down till you take a plea. In my case, I knew there was no probable cause and Wakulla County Sheriffs... Office was just retaliating because we sued them months prior. When we found out we were under investigation we immediately hired Jansen & Davis. As Detective Hudson conducted her witch hunt to find anything to get us on, she relied on a warrant full of half-truths and omissions of actual statutes to trick Judge Flury into signing off on it. Katie Bogenschutz was put in charge of my case. Once she depositioned the detective who all but admitted she had no probable cause, the prosecutors tried one last ditch effort to get me to plea (even though they knew I was wrongfully arrested, because state attorneys are pieces of ____.) When we told them to pound sand, they finally dropped the charges. Wakulla Sheriffs did not care if I took a plea or got off, to them the Process is the Punishment. Kudos to Katie for believing in me and my family and getting the state to drop the bogus charges.
