DUI Less Safe

First, He didn’t have all the information when we finally went to court months later. Then, he sat and BS’d with the solicitor, which did nothing for me. Lastly, I have to tell you to not pay him in full so he will work a little harder since you still owe him money. I have heard he is one of t...he best but I received piss poor representation

Avoid hiring Jarrett maillet

When I hired Mr Maillet I was quoted a price of a $2,500 retainer fee, a fee of $5,000 not to go to trial then a fee of $8,500 to go to trial. I hired him in December of 2016 and was never given a copy of our signed contract. Then a year to a year and a half later he started telling me the retainer ...fee was $6,500 then a fee of $6,500 to not go to trial, and $8,500 to go to trial. UM, NOPE! Not according to the price you quoted me on the phone the first time we spoke! Every attorney I spoke to in the Savannah area quoted a retainer price of $2,500, had he told me a retainer of $6,500 he would have most definitely NOT been hired! He would NEVER answer his phone & NEVER return phone calls or messages! He would show up late and after court already started so getting to talk to him about the case was all but in possible! He only went to 3 court dates and totally screwed up at the plea and motions hearing by saying the same thing over and over which resulted in the judge not dismissing the charge. He then withdrew from the case and screwed me out of $2,500 which he didn't earn, didn't even come close to earning. He also at one point told me I didn't pay him, lucky for me I kept the business card he gave me with the price I paid and date wrote on the back of it or he would have screwed me more! Avoid Jarrett Maillet at all cost because if not you'll regret it!

STEER CLEAR!!!

My son was arrested on his way to Florida from NC with his friend, the driver. They were pulled over and unbeknownst to my son their friends packed some things in the trunk to bring to Florida They were pulled over for a wrong turn were searched and 2 OxyContin were found in the trunk. They were... brought to jail. I hired Jarrett Maillet who requested $750.00 up front. I signed a contract with him stating “Both parties understand that this agreement represents the legal work to be performed in the Bryan County Superior Court”. I paid his fee, posted bond and Jarrett got him out of jail. For next 1 1/2 years before court I tried to connect with Jarrett with no response. One week before court my son received a call from his friend, the driver, telling him we have a court date next week. We never heard this! If he had not contacted my son there would have been a warrant out for his arrest!!!! My son immediately call Jarrett and he told my son I only paid to get him out of jail!!! WHAT??? Not according to the signed contract!!!! I immediately called Jarrett where he changed his tune knowing full well we had paid for his representation! I made an appointment to meet with him the night before court. I took the day off work drove to GA the night before court to meet with Jarrett. Once I arrived I called Jarrett and he claimed he didn’t have time to meet, “his daughter had a recital”. He then went on to say “what’s the big deal, it’s only the arraignment”!! WHAT??? I demanded to meet with him to discuss our case prior to court and he reluctantly agreed. If I hadn’t pushed this lawyer, demanded he do the job I paid him for my son would have faced jail time. This lawyer’s lack of ethics should be clearly noted!!! I demanded he request a dismissal based on the lack of evidence, he kept saying “you can ask for whatever you want but the arraignment is just for guilt or not guilty”! We did get this dismissal at the arraignment as I knew we could BUT it would not have happened if I didn’t push this lawyer to do his job! I fear for anyone that hires him!!!

DO NOT BECOME A VICTIM!!!

This guy did absolutely nothing in my case. He charged a 3500 retainer fee only to do nothing. The information located in my file only included the information I gave him. He decided that he no longer wanted to represent me because he does not like to be questioned. He seemed to be an okay attorney ...at first but then when the case required more work he stated that he just did not have time and could not answer any questions I had. He did not even have the courage to tell me that he no longer wanted to represent me, only for me to be informed by the courts after trying to get into contact with this guy for two weeks that he told them "please remove my name from the books, I don't represent that person". I was informed two days before my case that he was not representing me and he finally then sent an email after I had already spoken to the courts. This guy only wanted to talk to me when I was sending him money. He made little to no contact with the officers and informed me that he was too busy to speak with the proper authorities to address my case. This guy is the type of attorney that gives good attorneys a bad name. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE take heed. DO NOT USE THIS GUY!!! HE IS AWFUL!!! If you want an attorney that has your best interest at heart overlook this guy
