In 1976, Walter James Gordon, Sr. founded The Gordon Law Firm, and since then the firm has been dedicated to serving the people of Georgia. Based in Hart County, the firm extends service to Elbert and Franklin Counties. After graduating from Antioch School of Law in 1976, Walter began as a solo practitioner here in his home town. Antioch School of Law was located in Washington D.C. and was founded for the purpose of training trial lawyers committed to justice and equality for all. Walter has retained those ideals in his practice of local government law, general civil litigation, real estate and personal injury matters. He is admitted to practice before the Superior Courts of the Northern Judicial Circuit, Georgia Court of Appeals, Georgia Supreme Court, United States District Court (Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia), U.S. Court of Appeals (11th Circuit), and the United States Supreme Court. Walter is listed in the Bar Registry of Preeminent Lawyers, and his Bar and practice activities include: Georgia EMC Counsel Association Charter Member (1990-present) and State President (1993-1994); County Attorney for Hart County, Georgia (1980-1984, 1990-Present); State President, County Attorney Section, Association of County Commissioners of Georgia (1997-1998); State Bar of Georgia member of the State Disciplinary Board (1992-1995), member of the Office of General Counsel Overview Committee (1994-1996), member of the Court Futures Committee (1997-2005), and member of the Committee on Judicial Independence (2005); Georgia Legal History Foundation (Trustee, 1995-Present); Northern Circuit Bar Association President (1990), Vice President (1989), and Secretary-Treasurer (1988); American Trial Lawyers Association; Georgia Trial Lawyers Association (1977-Present); Northern Judicial Circuit Public Defender Program Governing Committee (1981-1984; 1989-Present) and Circuit Public Defender Committee. Walter and his wife, Pam, reside on beautiful Lake Hartwell. They have two sons, Daniel Harry and Walter James “Jay”, Jr. Together they enjoy music, theatre, boating, scuba diving, fly fishing, and adventurous vacations.
