I was unfairly arrested by an Athens Police officer in downtown during one of the game nights. I was charged with Littering (a cigarette butt) and Obstruction of LEO. I called several lawyers until a couple of my friends referred me to Mr.Wiltshire. Upon reviewing the police report, Mr.Wiltshire assured me with confidence that no other lawyers have. I knew from that moment that I had picked the right person to represent me. Three months after my arrest, Mr.Wiltshire was able to dismiss my case and restrict my files before I even had to go through thejury trial. I cannot thank him enough for everything he has done for me. He is a very understanding guy who cares very much about his clients. I would strongly recommend him to my friends if they are ever put into the same situation. His knowledge and expertise in this area is phenomenal. Call him now if you need help, and I guarantee you will get the best result.

I am from out of town, but needed a lawyer in Athens for my son's criminal defense. Not knowing where to turn, my daughter-in-law found a website with reviews for lawyers. I read all that pertained to our problem. I was impressed with the reviews for Mo Wiltshire. I liked the fact that he was once a prosecutor. The reviews were all positive, and because of them, the rating that put Mo in the top 10 percent of attorneys in Georgia, and our initial conversation, I hired him. In the courthouse, he knows everybody, and they all know him. I like that, too.
He kept us informed and gave reasons for his strategy. Even though the process took a while, it worked. Mr. Wiltshire got the prosecutor to agree to a much shorter time to present to the judge than he originally wanted. The judge decided on a shorter time than that to be served. I believe that the outcome was fair and due to Mr. Wiltshire' s competence.
I would recommend Mr. Wiltshire to anyone who needs a good lawyer. I hope we never need a lawyer again, but I would not hesitate to call him if needed.

My son was arrested and charged with serious felonies including Aggravated Assault and Aggravated Battery in Madison County. He was facing over 20 years in prison. The DA would not agree to even let him have a bond. I called some well connected people in the know and was referred to Mo Wiltshire. My wife and I went to meet with Mo and we were very impressed. We wanted to get our son some serious help and it was perfectly obvious we had found the right attorney. Mo got our son a bond and worked with us to try to get a fair deal from the DA. Unfortunately, the DA would only offer a felony plea and insisted our son was going to prison. We went to trial after many months and Mo Wiltshire was prepared and ready. He told us what to expect and exactly how he wanted to fight the DA's case. He did just what he said he would do and the case went exactly like he said he thought it would. Mo did an amazing job during the trial and really showed that my son was innocent. The jury found my son not guilty of all those felony charges and he walked out of the court room a free man. I can tell you that if you have anyone in your family that gets in legal trouble you need to hire Mo Wiltshire as fast as you can.

"Mo" is what Mr. Wiltshire asked me to call him....and he called me Di. A wonderful friend of 30 years recommended Mo as she and her husband had recently used him for council and was extremely happy with their results. That was the best advice I've ever been given! I liked Mo the first meeting we had. He was very attentive and very direct about how he does business. He stated he wouldn't take my case or anyone's if he didn't think he could win, or help me the best way possible. And that's exactly what he did and then some! If it weren't for Mo....I'd be in jail for possibly five years or more! Instead i'm serving my sentence on probation but i still have my freedom and i owe this to my wonderful lawyer!!! So if you need representation you won't be sorry by choosing Morris H. Wiltshire...He will do what he say's he can do and me and my friend can both vouch for this!! All You need to do is make the call....You won't be sorry. Sincerely, Di

Moe is not only a great lawyer, but he is an amazing human being who understands his practice very well. I am beyond grateful for the help he provided me, as it certainly helped me continue to grow as an individual.
Do not call anyone else, if you're in need of a lawyer - give Moe a call right now!

Most lawyers claim to be "trial lawyers". Few actually feel comfortable in front of a jury. My son was charged with DUI in Athens in 2011. The case was not perfect from the prosecution perspective and there were issues upon which a "reasonable doubt" defense was available. I am in the business of defending large insurance companies and our clients in civil litigation. I knew who to ask about criminal litigators and I trusted my advice. My son is sure glad we were referred to Mo Wiltshire. The jury was selected on a Monday. The trial was on the following Friday. I attended the trial and watched as every word was said - we clearly had the State "out-lawyered". An attorney's job is to defend his client to the fullest of his abilities using all the legal and factual defenses available. That is just half of it. In front of a jury, an attorney must be able to call upon "trial skills" including being likeable to the jury. If the jury hates your lawyer, you are sunk. If the jury likes your lawyer, you are in a lot better shape. When your lawyer weaves the story together during the trial and wraps it up in a closing argument where every juror is glued to each word he says, you know you hired the right guy. Our case was clearly one that could have been lost. The difference was the attorney and it was a true work of art. I have taken the time to write this not because I ever expect to need Mr. Wiltshire again or even expect to see him again (unless he will let me buy him a beer sometime). I write this because someone might read this and realize that a young man or woman charged with a crime or DUI truly has a ton to lose if convicted. There are defenses to utilize and you are not "sunk" just because you are charged. The prosecutor does not negotiate or "plea down" many criminal cases like ours. We had one choice - try the case or take what the State offered. Not much of a choice actually because if we lost at trial, the punishment wasn't much worse than the plea. Hire the right lawyer. Hire the lawyer who does trial work day in and day out and does not just claim to do it. Ask when was the last time you took a case like this to a jury? What is your track record in the last 3 - 5 years in trial? Then check it out. Not everyone will know who to call like I did to get the referral for the best DUI defense trial lawyer in Athens and really, anywhere around this State. My son has turned his life around and he does not have a DUI conviction on his record. He is 22 and a DUI harnessed around your neck will follow you. The jury was deliberating for 15 minutes before the clerk called us back in for the verdict. That is always a good sign for the defense but when it is your son, you are still sweating (I know). As for what it cost, I think you will find that it will be very reasonable. There was no blustering from Mo about needing more money than he forecast. We paid exactly what he asked and it was money well spent. I hire lawyers on civil cases everyday that bill insurance companies tons more than he billed me. I know a bargain. I would recommend him over any attorney for criminal / DUI defense work and especially in Athens. You cannot overestimate the value of being known to the legal community and liked in the courtroom where your practice. Everyone spoke to Mo - from the clerk to the Judge, to the Sheriff at the security check in. They all called him Mo. They asked about his kids and his wife. I can tell you - all of that matters and if your lawyer is a jerk, all of those people know it and so will the jury.

What more can I say about Mo Whiltshire, because the title says it all. From the first instance of talking to Mo I knew he was the one to hire. I was facing 3 felony charges, 2 misdemeanors, and Mo accepted my challenge like it was nothing. Throughout the whole timespan Mo's assistant kept me informed of anything and everything that was happening in my case. Trust me when I say that it is a major stress reliever to be able to trust that your lawyer is really working for you and being informed throughout the whole thing. Anyways, the DA wanted to throw me 10 years probation and Mo laughed and said,"No, you aren't getting no ten years probation, I won't let that happen." And Mo kept his word and performed like a Grammy award winning actor. His presence in the courtroom is strong to say the least... And everyone knows him which is a huge factor when working out plea deals. On the day of court Mo did exactly what he said and kept me off probation... As a matter of fact Mo was about to work out a deal where I would have a little fine, some community service, and the icing on the cake being no probation officer, no check ins, monthly payments and NO tests! Well, I can write paragraphs about how great Mo is but to put it bluntly. You get what you pay for and Mo is worth 10x's what I paid him. Don't be a fool and hire a lawyer from the mail that you got, instead do your research and comfort yourself after reading this knowing that Mo is going to take care of you and work deals that you could only dream of. Mr.Wiltshire is the best of the best in GA and #1 in North GA!!!

Mo was an outstanding attorney! He was a very informative and respectful guy. He understood that I made a mistake and made every effort to help me out based on my character rather than my charges. I would recommend anyone to Mo because he will do anything in his power to help you in court. If you need someone who is personable, reliable, and helpful, Mo is your guy!

I'm so thankful I read these reviews and picked Mr. Wiltshire to be my lawyer. Not only was he completely professional, but he handled my case extremely well. It was my first time ever being charged with anything and he really knew the best moves to get me the best results. I would recommend him to anyone who is new to the justice system and needs a lawyer they can trust. Also, he is such a sweet man who will work hard for you because he truly cares about you as a client. Don't hesitate. He's worth every penny.
Ralph Powell, Government Attorney
Relationship: Fellow lawyer in community
Quite simply, Mo is one of the best trial attorneys in the State of Georgia. He is a gifted lawyer who has an incredible ability to cross-examine a witness. I have personally seen experienced law enforcement witnesses wilt under his cross-examination. He is smart, hard-working and always has his client's interest at heart. If you or someone you know has a criminal charge, I strongly urge you to make an appointment to see Mo Wiltshire.
Page Pate, Federal crime Attorney

Morris is an outstanding trial lawyer. I have watched him in court on numerous occasions and I am always impressed with his persuasiveness and ability to win tough criminal cases. He works very hard for his clients, and he has a natural connection with jurors and judges. I watched him win a murder trial several years ago that no one else thought was winnable. He is always well prepared and is dedicated to his clients. He is definitely the "go to" lawyer in Athens for serious criminal cases and DUI's. Hire him. He will take good care of you.
