Beware of this lawyer

My case is still ongoing so I can’t go into to details about my case. So let’s start here I reached out to this lawyer since the star ratings were high. He did not return my calls or emails. He did not introduce any mitigating issues on my behalf. The plea deal he worked out was worst than the oringa...l one I received without a lawyer. He says the police report is damming which it is: however, any good lawyer would have introduce migrating issues. I sent him my medical history which he did not share with the da. I asked over and over for him to call me. He did not. I finally put the payment on hold to get their attention and the receptionist said to me either I pay or they will dimiss themselves from my case. And that’s exactly what they did 1700k later. He did nothing to help my case and was very unresponsive. I wouldn’t trust this firm at all! They will take your money and not help you.

Thank you for your comment. There is some information that you have completely left out of your review. Not calling back and you not being available are two entirely different things. Both myself personally and tow other attorneys at my firm reached out to you several times and were unable to make contact on multiple occasions. We did in fact explain everything about your case to you in detail but you were unavailable to come in and review the discovery in person which made that part of reviewing your case with you difficult as well (although you seemed to understand that the cards were severely stacked against you based on this post you left). We then mentioned that the information regarding your health issues was great for a trial and may have led to a not guilty, but would only work at trial as the solicitor was not interested in reducing based on the information provided (which also included a prescription which blatantly said do not take with alcohol). After all of this, you informed my office that you were better off on your own and you would not be making any further payments and you then cut off contact with our office (hence the calls from our paralegal). All of that last part together was what prompted our withdrawal from your case.

Don't hire this lawyer

I had an accident where I was rear ended after making a right turn March 2015. Roughly 2 car lengths is where I was hit after making my turn. My pictures vs the accident report drawing were totally different. I hired a lawyer, Michael Barber after requesting a jury trial from the judge. I paid him i...n full, on time. He said I had a strong case and that the DA sided with us when he made 2 appearances on my behalf in court. The unfortunate part in my case is that I had a lapse in insurance. So the damages to my car wouldn't be handled unless this driver was accused for hitting me, not me making an "abrupt turn" and receiving a ticket for "improper right turn". Makes no sense if it is a 35 MPH road and the guy who hit me does almost $20k in damages to my car (Chrysler 300 to his VW Passat). I was hit DIRECTLY in the rear of my car TWO car lengths into my turn. Pictures show clearly where the point of impact occurred on the road. He kept insisting that he could get it thrown out and that means the other party couldn't come after me. That's not what I wanted. I wanted a jury trial. My 6th amendment. He told me it would take time to get thrown out and had to wait until it was "accused" before he could move forward to get my trial date. Kept telling me all he could do was get it thrown out but takes 12 months. Then no, it takes 18 months. Then 24 months. I paid him to represent me in jury trial. I was NEVER granted such. Hence, the other party involved being able to sue me for damages to his car now. I then paid him to represent me in that case too. After paying him $1k of the total $2500 he requested for this new case, he appeared at court for me. This comes after he tells me that I can NOT be served thru the mail. Well that was a lie. I had to call him for about a week straight before hearing back from not him, but his assistant or someone that works with his firm to only tell me that they can serve me like that. IF I wanted his help I needed to pay him the remaining balance and he will SEE if he can reopen the judgement. A bunch of lies to get money out of me. Poor misrepresentation from this guy. I had high hopes for him. Really did. I did research on him prior to hiring. Everything looked good. My accident was March of 2015. It is almost Christmas of 2016 and I have still not been granted a jury trial for my "improper right turn" ticket and now have been judged for the other parties damages. Not saying he is bad in everybody's case, but clearly bad during mine. Even rushed me off the phone when i tried to call him to ask more about my judgement case once I told him I don't think it's good to fight that case but to fight the original. He refused to take any of my calls afterwards. My fault is having a lapse in insurance but still doesn't neglect my right to trial to defend my case. Worst situation.

Thank you for your comment. Some information that you left out is very important. First of all, we handled your criminal portion of your case and nothing happened with that part. The statute passed and we sought a dismissal of that case. Then you informed my office that you wanted us to handle the Civil portion of your case as you were being sued. However, the unfortunate part that you left out was that the suit was finished and the hearing that you paid us to attend was a damages hearing. Quite a different story than you initially led with when you hired us to work on the civil portion of the case. The judgement for the other parties damages was handled outside of the criminal portion due to the lateness of your hiring an attorney to handle that portion of the case. You still have a right to jury trial for the criminal portion of the hearing should the state decide to revive that case. As a last mention, you never paid in full for the representation of your civil case. When my office called you about the issue with the damages hearing you informed my office to cease representation on the civil portion and stop all work as you would not continue paying.

Best in the business.

Mr. Barber went above and beyond in my case. I hired him over the phone with only two weeks until my trial date. He worked tirelessly on my case to prepare and always keep me updated. If I would not have hired him, I would not have been able to get my charge reduced. He knew the ends and outs of the ...system, which no one else knew. If you need legal help, Mr. Barber should be YOUR FIRST and only choice. He, by far, is the best in the business.

Driving Under the Influence Reduced to Reckless Driving

Michael Barber Jr was one of several attorneys that I contacted for representation. He was extremely helpful during our consultation over the phone and took several calls from me throughout that day. We met in person and I decided to move forward with Mr. Barber as my legal counsel. My experienc...e with Mr. Barber is that he took a difficult and unfavorable situation and minimized the damage as much as possible. My case was fully resolved with a reasonable outcome of DUI reduced to Reckless Driving in a matter of 7 months. Mr. Barber was always responsive as an attorney and there were not any hiccups throughout the process. I have not dealt with any attorneys in my life, but would be confident in saying that I would consider Mr. Barber to be an extremely reliable one. It was important for me to have clear expectations from a quite confusing and ambiguous legal process, and Mr. Barber delivered. He is an absolutely solid guy!!!

Very good lawyer

Michael made sure that I knew what was going on with my case and was there to answer any of my questions throughout the process. That is something that is very imperative, as this was my first offense with a DUI arrest and first time I have ever been in trouble with the law. I had no idea what to do... or what to expect. Michael studied my case and was well aware of all the points he needed to make. The reason I was pulled over to begin with, was because I did a U-turn. I was following a friend who had pulled over in the median due to motorcycle trouble. The officer saw me do the U-turn and decided to pull me over based off the fact he thought I was lost. Well... I was, however that is not a reason to pull someone over. Had Michael not known his facts and info, this may not have been lowered to reckless and I could have been stuck with a DUI on my record for life. He is a wonderful lawyer and I would highly recommend him to represent any of my friends who might run into same trouble. Not to mention he is very easy to talk to and has some humor. Which, in a time like this your going to need some humor.
