Richard Lawson was a Godsend. I received my 4th DUI in Feb. of this year, 2013 plus simple assault on an officer. By a stroke of luck I found Richard and contacted him. This was my second time charged with DUI. Mr. Lawson successfully got the charge reduced to "Reckless Driving". If I had been convicted of the DUI charge, not only would I have been facing possible jail time and certain hefty fines, but automatic dismissal from my job, which would have been a devasta...ting outcome for me. In the investigation report, the conclusion of the professional evaluator was that "this is a tough case for the defendant." The first big victory that Mr. Lawson secured for me was the prompt return and reinstatement of my license, which I surrendered when I refused the field breathalyzer the night of my arrest. Right out of the gate, he instructed me to begin, and if possible, complete community service, DUI/defensive driving school, drug and alcohol evaluations and classes, and AA meetings. To be honest, doing all of these things initially struck me as maybe overreaching or undue. After all, I had not been convicted of ANYTHING yet. In some regards it seemed to me that doing all of these things was almost an admission of guilt. But I decided that with all of his years of experience and extensive and impressive track record of success, I would be wise to heed his advise. We were both right! On my court date, when Mr. Lawson and I stood side-by-side in front of the judge, and Mr. Lawson told the judge of my near-completion of all of the programs he recommended, the judge was impressed. The judge said to me, "It is very good that you were so proactive." I said to the judge, "I was just following the good advise of my attorney, your honor." The judge then said, "You have a good attorney", and I agreed! I believe that this aggressive approach to my defense ultimately played the key role in securing the successful and desired outcome of my case. Overall, Mr. Lawson conducts himself in a very professional and skillful manner. But as impressive as all of his expertise and accomplishments are, what really won me over was something else: his very approachable and easy way of speaking and dealing with me. After just a couple of times speaking with him, I felt we had developed a personal relationship and respect for one another that caught me by surprise. Fairly quickly, we were chatting easily like friends about other topics than just my case. This very desirable quality - to me - was a powerful testimony to the type of person he is , and ultimately speaks to his overall professional success as well. In conclusion, I would say that Mr. Lawson's extensive experience with DUI laws as a prosecutor, his solid working relationships with the prosecutors and others within the system , and his overall understanding and mastery of the DUI defense category make him the only DUI lawyer I would seek out, or recommend. I really appreciate Richard Lawson's expertise in getting my DUI charge reduced to reckless driving! I was charged with DUI in a county that is very difficult to get a DUI charge reduced. He also made sure I kept my driver's license. When I first consulted with him, he was very honest about my chanc...es of a reduction in that county.
