The fear of the unknown can be torment. I got handed a DUI back in February '10 and had never even had a speeding ticket that I can remember and I'm 45 yrs old. I made a mistake, used poor judgment and found myself in a holding tank for over 12 hours waiting for my bail to go through. Upon m...y release, the first thing I did was start looking for a lawyer. I had no idea where to start. The first name I found was Richard Lawson - so I called his office expecting to get a voice mail, secretary, or associate. To my surprise, It was Richard who answered. I told him of the situation and he immediately assured me that he would be able to help. He gave me my options regarding his services and even spoke personally with my wife to ease her mind as well. Just a short time after the call - Richard was my lawyer. This needs to be said (as you find yourself searching for a lawyer and probably in a mild case of shock as I was): If you haven't already, you will most likely be receiving solicitations from many law firms within 48 hours of your arrest. I received over 20 in two days. But I had put my trust in Richard already - so it was a non-issue - but it did make me wonder a bit if I had chosen the right lawyer. Had I gone with another attorney, I am totally convinced that my outcome would not have been the same. He worked on my case until he got what we wanted. You cannot do better than that. You cannot do better than Richard Lawson. The answer to my question, "Have I chosen right?" became evident very quickly as Richard was on top of things immediately. Personally, I am a bit impatient and want answers immediately - not knowing the system or how it works. Richard knows the system inside out and it was PROVEN on my court date and he delivered on his promise to be there every step of the way and reduce several of the penalties - he even went beyond what I had paid him to do. He made things happen that I thought were impossible - especially if you are in the Gwinnett system as I was. Side note: If Richard instructs you to do something or to simply "settle down" about your case - DO IT. He knows what he is doing and you do not need to call or email him everyday to find the status of your case. I dragged out my court date by asking him to reset the date two times - and though he urged me not to (because it would just be more stress) - he did it for me anyway. I could go on and on urging you to use Richard as your lawyer - but it is your decision. I can only tell you that Richard Lawson was the best choice I could have made and strongly believe that you would be doing a disservice by choosing another lawyer. Richard S. Lawson is the man.
