This would have been my 2nd DUI in less than 5 years & I was at risk of going to jail, losing my license, my career, my marriage & my family. There was also the chance of not being able to renew my visa, so there was a lot more on the line than the law describes. I was arrested in June 2010 and my ...first son was born in September of 2010 & the thought of losing him was devastating & the thought of me knowing that I hurt him by not being there because of my selfishness tore me apart. There has not been a day that I thought about this since my arrest. I interviewed with 3 other lawyers, but Richard’s calm & confident attitude along with his impressive resume allowed me to hire him with assurance that he was the best person for the job. He started out by saying that this is going to be a very tough case to win, & then instructed me to go ahead & start completing the many tasks that are required of someone if they were convicted of a 2nd DUI. I questioned this request & he explained to me that if I were convicted, I would have these tasks done & they may show leniency on my sentencing or it may show the court that I am serious about this arrest & they may consider a plea bargain. So I went ahead and completed 240 community service hours, DUI School, alcohol counselling & a MADD impact panel. With his keen expertise he knew there new law that was coming into effect in 2013 that would offer 2nd offenders the chance to have a restricted license after 4 months as long as they met the requirements & a breathalyzer attached to their ignition. He was able to delay my case a little longer till the new law came in to effect, just in case if I was convicted I could potentially return to work. He was always strategizing in case I was to be convicted so I could get the best possible outcome. Then another roadblock came my way, the arresting officer was injured on the job, by a driver that was suspected of a DUI, so this just made my case even harder b/c the chance of the arresting officer agreeing to a lesser charge in my case, was zero! It looked like I was sunk & I may have to chance going to trial, which Richard was not if favor of, but he was more than willing to fight tooth and nail if that is what I wanted to do. I was desperate & I could not have this charge stick. But then, I received the best phone call & somehow & some way, Richard was able to negotiate a plea of reckless driving, no probation and $1000 fine. I did not ask him how he did it, because after almost 4 years after my arrest I didn’t care how he did it, but I know there isn’t a lawyer out there that could have done this! Richard was always available to talk, either by phone or email. He is also very patient by answering the many repetitive questions I threw at him. He genuinely cared for me and what I had to lose, he was willing to talk with my wife and explain to her what we were facing. He took care of all the court appearances, I am sure I was summoned about 20+ times and I only needed to show up twice. Each appearance I know Richard worked hard & did his best to try negotiate a lesser plea, but they would not budge! But his no quit attitude prevailed! Richard prepared for the worst and worked really hard for the best. If you hire Richard as your lawyer, be prepared to do some work & trust him that it is for your own good, not only for your court case, but you may get something out of these programs as I did. There is no question about it, he is the best! This conclusion that he worked so hard on has me excited that I can finally move forward & refocus on accomplishing my personal goals in life & enjoy my family!
