About James Butler

About me

Jeb Butler devotes his practice to helping individuals who have been hurt by someone else's negligence or misconduct. He has been named the "Young Litigator of the Year" and has won jury verdicts of up to $150 million.  He focuses on serious injury cases and takes only a small percentage of the cases presented to him, which enables him to focus hard on the cases he does take.  He works exclusively on a contingency basis, meaning that if Jeb does not win, his clients owe him nothing.

Jeb was born and raised in Columbus, Georgia.  He earned an undergraduate degree at Vanderbilt University, completed the Stanford University Graduate School of Business Summer Institute, and  earned his law degree at the University of Georgia.  During law school, Jeb excelled at law review, moot court, and mock trial.  He graduated in the top 10% of his class and won a  trial for a man falsely accused of driving under the influence who could not afford a lawyer.  During his summers, Jeb worked for two of Atlanta's most prestigious defense firms.  After obtaining his Juris Doctor, Jeb served as a staff attorney for Judge Lisa Godbey Wood of the Southern District of Georgia, a federal position reserved for exceptional law school graduates.  Jeb next represented the State of Georgia in his work with the Clayton County District Attorney's office, trying and winning multiple felony cases.

Now, Jeb is regularly recognized by "Super Lawyers," "Georgia Trend," and the "National Trial Lawyers" as one of Georgia's bright young lawyers.  As a founding partner at Butler Tobin LLC, Jeb devotes himself to helping individuals in need.  He has successfully litigated and tried cases against trucking companies, at-fault drivers, tire companies, vehicle manufacturers, and companies that have defrauded others.
